Propagation Studies Committee

Propagation Studies Committee member for HF

The RSGB Propagation Studies Committee (PSC) is looking for an additional full member to focus on HF propagation. A general interest in HF propagation, the Sun and the science behind the ionosphere is important.

It is essential that you understand and are able to use established HF propagation prediction programs such as VOACAP and ITURHFPROP. The ability to develop computerised analyses for specific needs would be an advantage, as the committee is often tasked with preparing predictions for RadCom, DXpeditions, and other user groups.

An active involvement in ongoing HF propagation studies would also be useful. A further aspect of the role is to be able to communicate the results of these studies to RSGB members and beyond via presentations and articles in RadCom.

The committee meets formally in Leicestershire twice a year, for which normal travelling expenses are paid, and has an active email group.

Candidates must be an RSGB member, be willing to agree to observe the Society’s Code of Conduct and Ethos and support the Society’s strategies.

To find out more about the role, or to make an application, please send a brief resume of what you could bring to the role to the PSC Chairman, Steve Nichols, G0KYA, via email to psc.chairman@rsgb.org.uk – Steve is happy to have an informal chat via phone or Skype if required.
