REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <http://www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO’s. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called “HF Ionospheric Interferometry”
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

SPECIAL EVENT (Highway to a DX Party!). The Citrus Belt Amateur Radio
Club of San Bernardino <w6jbt.org>, California, is once again hosting
(probably one of the most fun special event activities) the 19th annual
“Route 66 On The Air” special event between September 8-16th. The purpose
of this event is to offer amateur radio operators a fun way to “Relive
the Ride” of their own memories of Route 66, and to celebrate the highway’s
92nd anniversary. The U.S. Highway 66 established in 1926, was the first
major improved highway to link the west coast with the nations heartland.
Through stories, songs, and TV shows, the highway came to symbolize the
spirit of the freedom of the open road, inspiring many to see America.
Look for the following 21 stations (two are rovers) operating in or around
the major cities along the old “Route 66” from Santa Monica, California,

2018 project is on schedule. The equipment is now at Tauranga, New Zealand,
stored in the Braveheart’s warehouse.
A real challenge for DX-pedition teams on uninhabited islands is knowing
where in the world they’re being heard. The usual pilot reports tell us
what happened, not what’s happening, propagation predictions tell us
what might happen.
We understand that propagation may produce only short openings from
Ducie Island to many locations around the world. For example, it’s not
unusual for an EU opening to occur but EU callers are covered up by
callers from other geographies. Until propagation changes for the better
the EU stations can’t get through.
We have therefore augmented our pilot process to quickly identify these
openings and get this information to the VP6D operators so they can exploit
them. We’re confident this new capability will result in more timely
coverage of difficult paths.
No one likes to be continually asked for donations. Today’s reality is
DX-peditions to ecologically sensitive and restricted entities are ex-
pensive. Our boat and the freight invoices to New Zealand are now paid,
the team is hoping to cover ~50% of the project cost.
Our fund raising target plus projected OQRS income should cover the
remaining 50%. These bills must be paid whether or not you make a Q. We
have a team of A1 operators who have been working on this project for
17 months, they can use your help.
Look for another announcement in the next press release on or about
Sept 21st.

XZ, MYANMAR. Simon, HS0ZIB/XZ2A, reports on eHam.net (Sept. 5th) the
following current status, LoTW, ClubLog, QSL cards, charity donations of
XZ2A: The station is currently off the air (on all bands), while I wait
for an extension of my operating permit. This was applied for about 2
weeks ago, but I’m still waiting for the extension permit.
 * LOTW/Clublog – I uploaded my QSO log to both LoTW and ClubLog just now.
If there are any missing QSOs or incorrect date/time entries, please
contact me and I’ll do a manual search of my log.
 * QSL cards – All requests for QSL cards have been processed, the QSL
cards written, put in envelopes and addressed.  All these cards are
now at my home in Thailand. I will return to Bangkok around 24th of
October for a short holiday and will post all these cards by air mail
   from the post office!
 * Charity Donations (TeacherSimon.org) – I very much appreciate every $
that has been donated to my educational charity work in Myanmar. Hundreds
of school text-books and learning resources have been purchased and
donated to many different schools (full details, purchase receipts etc
are available on request for inspection).  I will continue my charity
work, regardless of where my next physical location might be 🙂 ….
