Hubbard changes branding to Federal News Network

Hubbard is making a change to the branding of one of its media platforms in the nation’s capital.

“FederalNewsRadio.com and 1500 AM changes its name to Federal News Network, a move aimed at highlighting its many distribution platforms and channels including on-air, online, podcasts, video and more,” the company stated.

The service was launched in February 2000 by then-owner Bonneville as a spinoff of the company’s WTOP news operation, to target a huge, specialized community of people in the Washington area who work for and around federal agencies.

Also changed is the website URL, from federalnewsradio.com to federalnewsnetwork.com/.

It is still heard on Hubbard’s big 1500 AM dial position, WFED. However, “We understand that today more than ever, our audience wants to listen, read and watch on multiple platforms and when it’s convenient for them,” stated Joel Oxley, senior vice president and general manager, in the announcement. “Our name change recognizes that landscape and we are pleased to meet our audience where they want and need our valuable news.”
