YJ0 Vanuatu DXpedition 2014 Press Release #2
Only 9 weeks to go until members of The Quake Contesters: Phil ZL3PAH (Team leader), Paul ZL4PW, Geoff ZL3GA  along with Gordon G3USR will be in Vanuatu for a Dxpedition.
Dates are 3 Oct to 15 Oct 2014. Flights are booked and we have secured a seafront QTH - Villa Chelle. Geoff ZL3GA completed a recce trip over the weekend of 25-28th July. This has confirmed that we have an excellent site with some very tall palm trees, low noise levels and close access to good amenities.
Callsign: YJ0X has been confirmed and we have received a copy of the licence from TRR. LoTW and Clublog registrations are complete.
Equipment: 2 HF stations (K3s + amplifiers) plus a reserve (FT-450D) on CW, RTTY & SSB as well as an FT-450D for 6m.
Antennas: foldingantennas.com hexbeam and VDAs for 10/12/15/17/20m and verticals for 30/40/80m near the sea.  6m Delta Loop (beacon) and a 6 el yagi for openings. We are likely to try 160m later in the week however this will depend on noise levels and demand on the higher bands.
QSL: ClubLog online log (near real-time) and OQRS will be available. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW within 3 months. Phil ZL3PAH is our QSL manager.
Phil's, Geoff's and Gordon's XYLs will be along with us but this is NOT a 'holiday style' expedition so whilst there will be some down time for the ops, we are looking to make a high total number of QSOs. We will be operating in both SSB and CW weekends of the Oceania DX Contest (www.oceaniadxcontest.com).
