The Aug. 11 program of the Cedar Creek Amateur (Ham) Radio Club will illustrate how repeaters in general and the club repeaters in particular work. Clif Holland, who helps maintain the systems, will explain the particulars.
The meeting will be held at the Mabank Café on Hwy 198. The meeting starts at 9 a.m., but many visitors and members come around 8 a.m. for the great buffet. Anyone interested in technology is welcome.
The Cedar Creek ARC has over 40 members from the tri-county area. It maintains a VHF and UHF repeater system that provides hand-held radio coverage to hams in the lake area and mobile and base coverage throughout the three counties. CCARC participates in the National Weather Service SKYWARN program and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service. The club also provides guidance and information to those wishing to join the ranks of amateur “ham” radio. There is no requirement or test for Morse code. For information visit http://www.k5ccl.org.
