From VK9WA Facebook page:
“An aerial shot of Middle Cay, Willis Islets, Coral Sea, Australia. Willis Island with the meteorological station is visible on the horizon at the top right. You can see numerous large turtle nests on the upper beaches. We positioned camp to minimize impact on the turtles and nesting birds. The calm seas you see lasted our first 2 days, then the 30 knot winds began and it turned into a fierce surf that left us mostly isolated from the ship for 4 rainy, hot days.”

An international team of amateur radio operators will activate DXpedition station VK9WA from Willis Island November 14-23, 2015. Willis Island is currently #32 on the Club Log most wanted list and has not had a significant operation since 2008.
While this is a small, budget-conscious DXpedition, activating Willis requires significant expense for a charter boat and equipment. We kindly invite you to donate to the cause and support us. Donation and sponsorship details are available at VK9WA.com.
