DIY parabolic dish reflector antenna

Here is the link to a design how to DIY a simple parabolic dish antenna. The design is self-explanatory and easy to understand.

Just a few hints from my side:

  • for amateurs without required instruments and knowledge it is much easier first to choose the feed and according to the feed to construct the dish with F/d that match the feed you intend to use.

  • can feed (circular waveguide) are good for deep dish, F/d 0.35-0-45

  • use the aluminum flat bars (strips) 2 mm, do not use 1 mm as construction will be not so rigid

  • do not use the plastic screening mesh wire for the reflector :-)

  • the size of the eye on the chicken mesh wire will set the maximum frequency you can use.

  • this approach and antenna design is good up to 3 GHz, do not use it above that frequency

have fun...
