BITS & PIECES -

A52YY, BHUTAN -
Latest News:
Any further changes will be informed on the A52YY page of QRX.com
Pekka, OH1TV and Pekka, OH2YY will be QRV from Bhutan late September/early October this year. The callsign we are going to use is still open, alternatives are A52O or A52YY. We will arrive in Paro late afternoon on Sept. 26th and will depart in the morning of Oct. 2nd. We will be staying close to the city of Paro. We have no other activities in Bhutan and can focus 100% on amateur radio! The QTH will be up on a hill facing to north and it should give a good take off to North America, most of South America, northern Asia and whole Europe.
We decided to have two stations, but we will leave aplifiers home and focus more on antennas. We are planning to have 3 yagis: a tribander for 14/21/28, a duobander for 17/24 and third one that can be manually tuned to any band 18/21/24/28MHz. In additon there will a dipole/vertical for 7 MHz and  a 3-el yagi for 6 meters. We will operate both SSB and CW. We try to start the operation in the evening of Sept. 26th with a temporary antenna set-up. On Oct. 2nd we will have a morning flight and need to go QRT sometime during the night.

At the start it was a fun week and looked as though the good times were back. But past Wednesday everything drooped (I know the feeling).
The was some interesting DX about. 3B9FR (Rodriguez Is) of course, VP2ETE (Anguilla), ZD8N (Ascension Is, run by the RSGB’s very own Steve White), YC1CWK (Indonesia) and others.
Bob, N2MDA says, “Here in Florida we've had a bit of activity on 10 meters FM. Mostly north to south propagation. Tony it would be great if you could record about 60 seconds of that over the horizon radar and set it up so we can hear it, here. Along with signal strengths. Tnx Bob.”
Well I have done but you will have to go via a this link to see/hear it. The link shows jpgs of the screen of my Icom 7600. The sound recording was made when the noise was well passed it’s strongest, and it’s a m4a file.
