Bhutan, A5. Pekka, OH2YY (A52YY), updates OPDX [edited]:
"I will be returning to Bhutan with my good friend Pekka, OH1TV,
late September this year. The callsign we are going to use is still
open, alternatives are A52O or A52YY. We will arrive in Paro late
afternoon on Sept. 26th and will depart in the morning of Oct. 2nd.
We will be staying close to the city of Paro. This time we have
no other activities in Bhutan and we can focus 100% on amateur radio!
The QTH will be up on a hill facing to north and it should give
a good take off to
North America, most of South America, northern Asia, Middle-East and whole Europe. We will have two K3 radios. We are planning to have three 2-element yagis: a tribander 14/21/28, a duobander 17/24 and one that can be manually tuned to any band 18/21/24/28 MHz. In additon we will have a dipole/vertical for 7 MHz. We will also have a 3-elemnet yagi for 6 meters. We will operate both SSB and CW. We try to start the operation already in the evening of Sept. 26th with a temporary antenna set-up. From 27th onwards we will have the yagis up. Dominica, J7. Update. Operators Janusz/SP9FIH and Kazik/SP6AXW
will be active as J79L and J79X, respectively, close to the village
of Calibishie (WW. Loc. FK95HO) between October 19-26th. Their main
goal is to participate in CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th)
as two Single-Op/Single-Band stations (one on 40m and the other
on a higher band) and to work as many stations as possible from
Asia before the contest. Outside of the contest, activity will be

Western Kiribati,
T30. Update. Everything
is on schedule 4 weeks before our expedition starts at the end of
September. As already announced our group will run four stations
24/7. Also one or two more well equipped stations can be used from
time to time and as back-up. Only one station will be possible on
each band at the same time because we have only one antenna location.
The antenna setup includes 3 spider beams, a 4 element for 6 m,
several full size loops and verticals and small amplifiers. Our
main targets are lots of radio contacts with far away Europe, but
we will not forget the hams from the other parts of the world. A
serious effort is planned to all bands 160 to 6 m and modes CW,
SSB and RTTY. We decided to change the previous announced 10-m-SSB-Frequency
from 28.445 to 28.465 MHz to avoid conflicts at the IOTA frequency
28460 kHz with our split. The most wanted bands and modes are known
and will be considered. Right now we have no plans to take part
in any contests to a full extend. If we have a good internet access
we will do a daily log update at club log. The T30D-crew is overwhelmed
and grateful for the great support of many Ham Radio Foundations
and individual hams. Special thanks go to sponsors who have made
a donation in advance. This helped a lot with early expedition costs.
Our crew also wants to thank the DL7DF-crew and DL9GFB for material
help. One last challenge was to receive the confirmation from the
involved airlines for oversize and excess baggage which is not only
extremely expensive but also a long process. Keep your fingers crossed
for a high FLUX and good conditions. We look forward to receive
messages of good and unexpected band openings during our stay and
therefore we will check our email several times a day."

and Arnaldo/LU3AAL will be active as homecall/T from Purmamarca
- Jujuy (WW Locator: FG76FG), a Region in Argentina with very little
activity and almost no CW operations between September 24-30th.
They will try to have 2 active stations on whenever possible. Activity
will be on 80/40/30/20/17/15/10 meters using CW, SSB, PSK31 and
SSTV. They will try to have a beacon on 6 meters. QSL via LU8EFF

Tristan da Cunha,
ZD9. Paul, ZS1S (ZD9ZS)
and a well known British operator (ZD9 call TBA) will visit and
be QRV from Tristan da Cunha (AF-029) between early September and
early October. They will travel on the South African Antarctic supply
ship, the SA Agulhas II. She is due to leave Cape Town on 4 September
and to arrive at Tristan da Cunha four to five days later, depending
on weather and sea conditions. The return voyage is scheduled to

during the time on the island.

Malawi, 7Q. Postponed. The 7QAA DXpedition to Malawi (www.malawidx.org), which was planned to take place between 10 November
and 2 December, has been postponed until March 2015. The general
approach will not change, and the large team will be split into
two sub-teams: Team One will operate CW only on 11-21 March, while
Team Two will operate only SSB and RTTY from 22 March to 1 April,
including an entry in the CQ WPX SSB Contest.

St. Martin, FS. John, K9EL, will once again be active
as FS/K9EL from St. Martin WW Loc. FK88 between November 20th and
December 2nd. Activity will be on 160-6 meters. He will be running
500 watts into a 3 element yagi on 6m, dipoles for 10-30m and a
vertical for 40-80-160m. John will operate on 60m if there is interest.
This will be a holiday trip with only a minimal effort for the CQWW
DX CW Contest. Usually there are daily uploads to ClubLog and LoTW.

Greece, SV. Laci, HA0HW, will once again be active
from Thassos Island (QRA KN20HS), as SW8WW (ex-J48HW) between September
12-22nd. He will operate mainly CW, with some SSB and RTTY, on the
HF bands (usually on 80/40/30/20/17/12/10 meters) and on 6 meters.
His rigs are usually a FT-840 with a MOS-FET amplifier (300-400
watts) and an IC-706 (for 6m only). Antennas are a monoband Gps
and dipoles on fishing poles. QSL via his home callsign, direct,
by the HA Bureau, or by the OQRS via ClubLog is 'OK' as well.

Rotuma, 3D2/R. Postpone. Antoine, 3D2AG, who was expected
to be active as 3D2AG/p from Rotuma between July 25th and August
8th, had to reschedule his operation because of bad WX in Rotuma
and unavailability of flights. He will try again around September

T30. Update. A experienced
German team is pleased to announce another DXpedition to the Pacific
Ocean to Southern Tarawa Atoll, Western Kiribati. Their callsign
will be T30D, and they will be active between October 2-15th. Operators
mentioned are Uwe/DJ9HX, Rudolf/DK3CG, Sid/DM2AYO, Dietmar/DL2HWA,
Georg/DL4SVA, Bert/DL2RNS, Heiko/DL1RTL, Juergen/DF7TT, Olaf/DL7JOM,
Guenter/DL2AWG, Hans/DL6JGN and Rolf/DL7VEE.
Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY, with at least four simultaneous stations with 500 watts amps around the clock. Suggested frequencies are:

German team is pleased to announce another DXpedition to the Pacific
Ocean to Southern Tarawa Atoll, Western Kiribati. Their callsign
will be T30D, and they will be active between October 2-15th. Operators

will be active as YJ0X from Vanuatu for a DXpedition between October
3-15th. Operators mentioned are Phil/ZL3PAH (Team leader), Paul/ZL4PW,

booked and they have secured a seafront villa. The team will have
2 stations (K3s + amplifiers) plus a reserve (K2), operating on

Andaman and Nicobar,

be leading a team of 10 operators to the Andaman Islands and Nicobar
Islands in the month of November. The callsign for both activations
will be VU4KV. Initially, a short duration of activity will be carried
out from Campbell Bay in the Great Nicobar by few of the team members.
This will be followed by a larger activation from Neil Island in
the Andamans for at least 10 days. The exact dates will be published

Malawi, 7Q. Members of the Black Mamba Contest &
DXpedition Team will be active as 7QAA (yep, that is the callsign)
and plan to be active this November and December (specific dates
below). They plan to have around 20-24 operators, the current list
mentions Chris/DL2MDU, Emil/DL8JJ, Jo/DJ3CQ, John/GW4SKA, Frosty/K5LBU,
Dick/K9APW, Neil/VA7DX, Don/VE7DS, Keith/VE7KW, Bob/W5UQ, Sam/ZS6BRZ
and Roger ZS6RJ. The ZS pilot station is Hal, ZS6WB. The operators
will split into two sub-teams operating over different date-range
periods:
Team One will operate only SSB and RTTY on 160-10 meters as well as 6 meters (any mode that works) for the first eleven days.
Team Two will follow on for the next eleven days, operating on CW only, and running an M2 contest entry in the CQWW DX CW Contest for Zone 37.
Suggested frequencies are as follows:
CW - 1825, 3520 7018, 10105, 14018, 18075, 21018, 24905 and 28018 kHz
SSB - 1845, 3790 7085, 14180, 18145, 21180, 24960 and 28480 kHz

Mike, AJ9C has been going
to Granada (WW Loc. EK71au, Nicaragua, for the past few years around
CQWW CW time. This year he plans a return (as YN2CC) between 25
November and 3 December 2014. Before/after the contest, he will
be active on CW/SSB/RTTY on 160-6m (check ON4KST chat for 6m skeds).
QSL is direct to AJ9C, LotW and Bureau. QSL requests can be made
via Clublog also.

this past week that he plans to activate the following in 2014 (specific
dates are still in the works):
Chagos Islands, VQ9. VQ9XR - Diego Garcia, Chagos Islands. Bob states, "Twice during 2014, we'll operate from Diego Garcia as VQ9XR on all bands - 160 through 6m. Operation will include Phone, CW and RTTY. During the second trip, Mike Mraz/N6MZ will be coming along to help on all bands. We're might get lucky and have one of the resident shipboard operators there as well. The dates are currently unknown because of scheduling; however, each trip will average approximately 3 weeks in duration.
Wake Island, KH9. NH9/N7XR - Wake Island (Also, WH9/W1AW - ARRL Centennial). Bob states, "Sometime during 2014, I'll operate from Wake Island on all bands - 160 through 6m. Operation will include Phone, CW and RTTY. The dates are currently unknown because of scheduling; however, the trip will average approximately 3 weeks in duration. During the trip, the call WH9/W1AW will be used to commemorate the 100th year of the ARRL. WH9/W1AW will be used for only 1 week on the trip. NO BUREAU QSLS. Donations are always welcomed via PayPal (see Web page). All antennas and small items will be left on the island with the MWR folks to assist future Amateur Operations. All donations will be used for both VQ9 and WH9.

Easter Isl., CE0Y. Early Announcement. A team of Japanese
operators will be active as CE0Y/homecall (pending) from Hare Kapone
on Easter Island between January 9-17th, 2015. Operators mentioned
are Tatsuo/JA3ARJ, Masumi/JA3AVO, Shozo/JA3HJI, Jusei/JA3IVU, Kunio/JH3LSS,
YL Hiroko/JH3PBL and Shima/JI3DNN. Some of these operators are from
the Lord Howe Island DXpedition last year. Activity will be holiday

Gabon, TR. Sebastien, F4EIH will be in Gabon
for at least three years starting on 1 February. He plans to operate
SSB, PSK31 and JT65 on the HF and VHF (EME and Satellite) bands.

Camaroon,
TJ. Thomas, DL8SEQ
(7J1AIJ, AA8NN), working for German Foreign Service, and presently
in Yaounde until the summer of 2015, is now active as TJ3TS. He
is currently using an Icom IC-720, but will have a Yaesu FT-897
and Kenwood TL922 during the first week of May 2014. Antennas are
a Spiderbeam (20/15/10m) and a homebrew dipole for 80/40/30m. Modes
will be SSB and the Digimodes (PSK, JT-65, JT9). He will attempt
to be active on the Oscars, and next month he hope to be active
on 6 meters as well. His QSL Manager is SWL PA3249 (only direct
with SAE and 2 GS). At the moment, Thomas is working on QSL design.
The QRZ.com page is not up-to-date yet. Thomas has an aviation Web

operations have been performed during his first Atlantic-crossing
on 20 meter with a magloop [built from a bicycle rim] aboard.) He
informed OPDX that his previous DXpeditions have been from Guam,
Palau and Ogasawara in the early 1990s.

Isl., FW. Jean-Jacques,
TK5JJ, will leave Corsica for 2 years and travel to Wallis Island
where he will be active as FW5JJ. He hopes to be active very soon
after his arrival with an Icom 756PRO and G5RV antenna. The rest
of his equipement will arrive later. He will be active on SSB, CW
and the Digital modes on all HF bands, 6m and 2m EME. QSL via F5RXL.

Heard Isl., VK0H. (Press Release - New Radio Team Leaders
Announced). The following was sent out and posted on the VK0EK Web
page [edited]: "We are pleased to announce that we have made
an informal agreement with Wayne Mills, N7NG, and Martti Laine,
OH2BH, to lead the Heard Island radio team. They will have complete
authority and responsibility to build the team, interface with the
DXing community, manage radio operations on Heard Island, and other
matters relating to the radio part of the expedition. Matters that
concern the entire expedition such as safety, schedule, vessel,
logistics, communications, facilities, and finances remain the responsibility
of the Expedition Leader, Robert Schmieder. A formal agreement will
be completed in the near future that specifies these various roles
and responsibilities. We will provide more information as we move
forward, and in the meantime we invite you to leave your feedback
