28/12/2012: Daki, 9A2WJ and Mato, 9A3SM will be active as 9A3SM/p from 9AFF-080
Special ornithological reserve "Crna Mlaka" (9AFF-080) on 28 December 2012
(about 0800z). QRV on the HF bands, propagation permitting. This activity counts
for additional points for Project CROATIAN FLORA and FAUNA On The Air - 2012

28/12/2012: Howie, K1VSJ/p will be active again from Martha's Vineyard (NA-046,
USi MA005S, WLOTA 2804), Dukes county, Massachusetts, between 28 December 2012
and 1 January 2013. He will focus on working JA stations on 10 or 15 metres

28/12/2012: Lars, PH0NO, plans to be active as homecall/p on 28 December 2012
from the Strabrecht heath Natural Park (PAFF-058), Noord-Brabant province, The
Netherlands. QRV on the HF bands starting around 1300 UTC until 1630 UTC. Lars
will make sure to go down to 40m later in the afternoon. QSL via home call,

29/12/2012: Daki, 9A2WJ and Branko, 9A3PM will be active as 9A2WJ/p on 29
December 2012 (about 1000z) from Special botanical reserve "Mali Kalnik"
(9AFF-031) and Special botanical reserve "?rdevacki pijesci" (9AFF-032). Note:

29/12/2012: On Saturday, 29 December 2012 the SP9YFF Group will be active from
Natura 2000 Area "Ostoja Goczalkowicka" (SPFF-519) and the Castle Strumien (WCA
SP-00456, ZWP GCY-05, WW Loc. JN99JW). QRV on 80-10 metre CW and SSB with 100W
between 0900 and 1600 UTC. Activity time and plans may be change due to weather
and road conditions. All QSOs are confirmed via LoTW. Paper QSL cards direct

29/12/2012: Masa, K1GI, plans to be active from Hamilton Parish, Bermuda
(NA-005), as VP9/K1GI between 29 December 2012 and 2 January 2013. QRV on 160-10

29/12/2012: YP1WFF/p will try to be active between 29 December 2012 and 2
January 2013 from Nordul Gorjului de Vest (WFF YOFF-314), Romania. QRV holiday

30/12/2012: Daki, 9A2WJ and Emir, 9A6AA, will be activate as 9A1WFF from the
Nature Park "Lonjsko Polje" (9AFF-012) on 30 December 2012 (about 0800z),

30/12/2012: Harry, JG7PSJ, will be active again as JD1BMH from the Sakaiura
Area, Chichijima (AS-031, WLOTA 2269, WW Loc. QL17CC, JCG 10007), Ogasawara
islands, from 30 December 2012 until 4 January 2013. He will operate CW, SSB and

30/12/2012: Piju, 9M2PJU, will be active as 9M2PJU/P between 31 December 2012
and 1 January 2013, near the Kepong Metropolitan Lake Park, Kuala Lumpur, along
with a few amateur hams. He states [edited], "I will be celebrating the New Year
here and will be calling for DX stations on 40m, 20m and 15m, CW mode just to
say happy new year to them. I'm OK on LoTW and eQSL user." [OPDX

02/01/2013: Cezar VE3LYC, Johan PA3EXX, Alex LU5WW and Luc LU1FAM hope to be
operating as LU6W from Isla Escondida (SA-096), Chubut Province, Argentina,
between 2-6 January 2013. Once again, the team would like to remind everyone
that this expedition includes some very difficult logistics. Consequently, the
above dates are approximate and can change depending on the weather conditions.
Moreover, there is no guarantee that the team will be able to land. Rest assured
the safety of everyone involved is paramount. Plans are to be QRV on the HF
bands using two IC-7000 100 watt, two multiband verticals, two 1 kW generators
and four car-type batteries. Hopefully two stations operating at one time. QSL

03/01/2013: Markus, DJ4EL, will be active as V31ME from Abergris Caye (NA-073)
from 3-17 January, with a side trip to Long Caye (NA-123) on 5-12 January 2013.
He will operate on 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 metre SSB. QSL via home call, direct or

04/01/2013: Francis, F6BLP, will once again be active as 6W7SK from Saly
Portudal, Senegal, between 4-18 January 2013. QRV 80-10m, mainly CW. If possible
he also hopes to be active on 160m with an Inverted L. QSL via F6BLP, direct or
bureau. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW and eQSL. [DX World]

07/01/2013: Bertrand, DF3ZS and Thomas, DL1QW will be QRV holiday-style from
Diani Beach, Kenya, between 7-20 January 2013. Activity on 80m to 10m - CW, SSB
and RTTY using dipoles, GP and vertical loops. QSL via home calls, direct or via

20/01/2013: Look for Dennis, WA2USA to be active as WA2USA/4 from St. George
island (NA-085, USi FL0076S), Franklin county, Florida, between 20 January and
27 February 2013. He also plans to operate from the lighthouse (ARLHS USA-1057,
WLOTA 3178) while he is on the island. QRV mostly CW on 30, 20 and 15 metres.
Some SSB on 40 and 20 metres. All bands in ARRL International DX CW Contest
(16-17 February) and the NAQP RTTY Contest (23-24 February). QSL via home call,

20/02/2013: Werner, DJ9KH, will be active from Vava'u island (OC-064), Kingdom
of Tonga, as A31WH between 20 February and 3 March 2013. Comments: will activate
Tongatapu (OC-049) before. QRV on the HF bands, propagation allowing. QSL via
home call, direct or via the DARC bureau. []

01/03/2013: Special event station 8J6ISG will be active on all bands and modes
between 1 March and 30 April 2013 to celebrate the opening of the New Ishigaki
Airport. (ISG is the IATA - International Air Transport Association airport
code). The new airport will be located to the east of Ishigaki (JCC 4704),
Ishigaki Island (AS-024, WLOTA 0134), Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa prefecture,
Japan. The new airport is supposed to have a 2,000m (6,562 ft) runway,
expandable to 2,500m (8,202 ft). Construction started in October 2006, for
completion by 2013, and is scheduled to open on 7 March. QSL via the JARL

01/01/2013: Special event callsign VI6AHR30 will be active on most bands and
modes during the month of January 2013 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the
Hills Amateur Radio Group. A special weekend event will be held on 26-27

01/01/2013: Throughout 2013 Irish families and clans will be coming together in
thousands of events, both on the island and around the globe, to celebrate their
history and heritage in a unique event called 'The Gathering'. Irish amateur
radio stations, North and South, will be participating and all operators
throughout the world, whether they have some green Irish blood or not, are
invited to join in the celebrations. The special event callsign EI13CLAN will be
active throughout the year and there will be a variety of awards and other
activities, details of which will be posted on the IRTS website

01/01/2013: Special event station 8N2MDR will be active on all bands and modes
between 1 January 2013 and 31 March 2014 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of
Midori-ward in Nagoya-city (JCC 2001). Nagoya is located in Aichi prefecture,
Chubu region, island of Honshu (AS-007, WLOTA 2376), Japan. QSL via the JARL

01/01/2013: The special event station S5300TP celebrates the 300th anniversary
of Tolmin Peasant Uprising. Members of the Radio club SOCA Tolmin (S59DAP) will
be active using special event callsigns throughout 2013. QSL via the bureau is

01/01/2013: The Tera Radio Club (HB9OK), Vezia, Switzerland, plans to be active
with the special call HB30OK almost everyday between 1 January and 31 December

Brave Radio Friends: Radio Activity Award January 2013 -

The award is sponsored by BRAVE RADIO FRIENDS and can be applied for by amateur
radio stations or short wave listeners. The rules are simple: In January 2013
work (OP)or hear (SWL) as many DXCC-entities as possible. No band or mode
restricitions. All entities count only once, regardless of band or mode. For the
award a minimum of 20 DXCC-entities is required. The number of DXCC entities
worked/heard will be entered in the award.

Live D-STAR webcast on Saturday, December 29th -

W5KUB.COM presents a special interactive live video broadcast, "D-STAR Live", on
Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM Central time (1600 until
2200 UTC). The live Internet broadcast will feature many D-STAR (Digital Smart
Technologies for Amateur Radio) topic discussions by the following panel:

LU6W - Escondida Island SA-036 -

UPDATE: Cezar and Johan have received their LU licences, valid until January 10,
2013. The boat rental has been confirmed, and all camping and power equipment
has been purchased or rented. Food and water supplies will be purchased after
the team gathers in Puerto Madryn. Landing on Escondida will require some
swimming, so all the team members will were wet suits.
LU6W ( hopes to be operating between Jan 2 and 6, 2013.
