24-hour ham radio day planned for Glen Park – newportri.com

PORTSMOUTH — The annual, national amateur radio Field Day is expected to draw more than 100 participants, and 2,000 pounds of towers and antennas, to Glen Park Saturday at 2 p.m.

The event continues until Sunday, June 24 at 2 p.m. Last year, the Newport County Radio Club came in second place in the U.S. rankings in its division. Club membership has increased from 40 members to 125 in the last 10 years, thanks to youth involvement from All Saints and Bishop Hendricken.

The Field Day is free to participate in, open to the public, and will feature a cookout. For more information, visit w1sye.org.
