Broadcasters tell McConnell and Schumer it’s time ”to resolve this vexing problem”
The leaders of broadcast associations repping all 50 United States, plus D.C. and Puerto Rico, called on the Senate leadership to pass the PIRATE Act swiftly, saying, “The time has come to take significant steps to resolve this vexing problem.”
In a Nov. 13 letter addressed to Sens. Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, the broadcasters note that H.R. 5709, the Preventing Illegal Radio Abuse Through Enforcement Act, already passed the House of Representatives unanimously and urge the Senators to approve the bill without changes because it gives the Federal Communications Commission “additional tools to address the growing pirate radio problem.”
