3Y0I —> The 3Y0I team (3Z9DX, CT1DSV, JE1CKA, SP3CMX, SP5ES, SP8S and
YU4DX) have assembled in Cape Town, South Africa in anticipation of their
upcoming DXpedition to Bouvet Island (dates TBA). “Our cruise will take 12
days one way”, they say. “If we are lucky with weather, our stay at the
island will last for 2 weeks”. We assume the entire journey will take
approximately 1.5 months”. Plans are to operate CW, SSB and FT8 (Fox & Hound
mode on all bands except 160m) as follows:
CW 1822 3502 7002 10106 14002 18072 21002 24892 28002 50105
SSB – 3785 7090 – 14190 18140 21200 24940 28440 50140

QSL via Club Log’s OQRS (preferred), LoTW or via 3Z9DX. The website for the
DXpedition is at https://bouvetoya.org/.
EP6RRC —> Announced FT8 (Fox & Hound mode) frequencies for the 17-23
November DXpedition to Shif Island (AS-189, new one for IOTA), Iran [425DXN
1431] are 3567, 7056, 10131, 14090, 18095 and 21091 kHz. Eight operators
expect to be QRV on 160-10 metres CW and SSB with two stations, with a third
station devoted to FT8. The pilots will be JA8COE (Far East and Oceania),
UA3AKO (Europe, Russia, and ex USSR countries), VE3LYC (East Coast NA) and
WC6DX (West Coast NA). QSL via LoTW, Club Log’s OQRS, or via R7AL. See
https://dxpedition.wixsite.com/ep6rrc for more information.
SM3CER —> Jan-Eric Rehn, SM3CER’s popular “Contest Service” website
(http://www.sk3bg.se/contest/) has not been updated for a while. “Jan-Eric
fell in his apartment in early September and could not get up or call for
help for several days”, N0AX reports. “After being rescued and a stay in the
hospital, he is back home but pretty much unable to move around and faces a
long convalescence”. His friend SM3DMP says that Jan-Eric “would appreciate
receiving emails and QSLs, even though it is very unlikely he will be able
to respond”. His email address is jan-eric.rehn[@]telia.com, and his postal
address is on qrz.com.
WSJT-X 2.0 —> A fourth candidate release (“RC4”) of WSJT-X 2.0 has been
available for download and use by beta testers since 13 November. The
“Quick-Start Guide to WSJT-X 2.0” has been revised and extended, and must be
read thoroughly before using RC4:
The version of FT8 (and of MSK144 as well) in the new release is not
backward-compatible with the original protocol. This means that anyone using
an earlier version of the software will be unable to decode transmissions
from users of v2.0.0-rc4, and vice-versa. “To minimize this cross-protocol
interference we suggest initially using the RC4 release at audio TX
frequencies 2000 Hz and higher. As more users upgrade their software to RC4
or later, activity can gradually move downward in audio frequency. By
December 10 or very soon afterward, everyone should upgrade to the full
WSJT-X 2.0 general availability (GA) release”.
Download links for RC4 on Windows, Linux, and macOS can be found on the
WSJT-X web page: http://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/wsjtx.html.
