1S, Spratley:
The "Borneo Amateur Radio Club" (BARC) will conduct a DXpedition
to Spratley island from March 10 to 18 as 9M4SLL. The operators
John, 9M6XRO, Steve, 9M6DXX, James, 9V1YC, Ben, DJ0YI/N6MUF, Don,
G3BJ, Pista, HA5AO, George, HA5UK, and Tony, KM0O will be on the
air from Pulau Layang Layang (AS-051, WW Loc. OJ67wi) from 160 to
10m in CW, SSB and RTTY with five stations with 400W PAs and
vertical antennas at the beach.

5X, Uganda:
Alan, G3XAQ is on vacation in Uganda during March and plans to
operate on the HF bands in CW as 5X1XA.

7P, Lesotho:
Peter, EI7CC, is once again visiting his relatives in Maseru from
March 6 to 26. In his free time, he'll be on the air as 7P8PB
from the station of his brother-in-law, Gerry, 7P8CC/EI8CC.

7X, Algeria:
The special callsigns 7T50ARA and 7T9A are used from March 1 to
May 30 to commemorate the 50th jubilee of the algerian radio
society, "Amateurs Radio Algeriens" (ARA). QSLs via 7X2ARA.

AP, Pakistan:
Charly, DE0BAH received a SWL report for JT65 QSOs by eQSL from

F, France:
The military school "l'Ecole Nationale des Sous Officiers de
Saint-Maixent-l'Ecole" (Deux-Sevres) was opened 50 years ago,
which is celebrated throughout 2013 with the special callsign
TM50ENSO. QSL via F5LGQ.

On the occasion of the international open chess championship,
the club station F8KGS in Cappelle la Grande will, until March
9, activate the special call TM5E. QSL via F8KGS.

H40, Temotu und H44, Solomon Islands:
After receiving their licenses in November already, a group
consisting of Manfred, DK1BT, Georg, DK7LX, Wolf, DL4WK, Reiner,
DL7KL, Sigi, DL7DF, Juergen, DL7UFN, Frank, DL7UFR, Jan, SP3CYY
and Leszek, SP3DOI will be on the aur from Solomon Islands as
H44G (OC-047, Guadalcandal island) from March 8 to 25. A part
of the group will do a side trip to Temotu Island as H40T
(OC-100, Nendo island) from March 12 to 23. Several stations
will be on the air in parallel with several stations on 160m
to 6m in CW und SSB, and one station for RTTY, PSK31 and SSTV.
The pilot station will be Bernd, DF3CB.

I, Italy:
The ARI club Livorno will activate the special callsign II5IDK
(ARMI #969) until March 17 in all modes. QSLs are sent automatically.

JA, Japan:
8N1MOMO is a special callsign for the 37. Momo-(Peach Blossom)
Festival and the 20th Fire Baloon Contest from Koga (JCC 1404)
in the Ibaraki prefecture on Honshu (AS-007, WLOTA
2376) until April 5th. QSL via bureau.

Until May 31st, the special station 8J4G can be heard on the
bands on the occasion of the 64th National Tree Planting Ceremony
in Tottori prefecture (Chugoku region) on Honshu (AS-007, WLOTA
2376). QSL via bureau.
On the occasion of the 62nd "Tonegawa River System Association
Flood Drill", the special station 8J1W will show up on the bands
from March 10 to May 18. QSL via bureau.

LZ, Bulgaria:
The "Balkan Sports Club" (LZ1KZA) celebrates the 135th anniversary
of the liberation of Bulgaria from turkish yoke by Russia and
re-establishment of Bulgaria with the special event callsign
LZ135LO from Karlovo. Activities will take place on HF until the
end of March. SL via LZ1KZA.

S2, Bangladesh:
Vadym, UT6UD, is QRV until March 7 as S21XV from Dhaka
on the HF bands with a focus to NA QSOs. QSL via UT6UD.

VE, Canada:
Dave, VE3AAQ will use the club station VO2WL in Labrador City
(WW Loc. FO62nw) signing VO2AAA on all bands in CW and SSB from
March 7 - 10. A participation in the RSGB Commonwealth Contest
(BERU) is planned. QSL via VE3AAQ, preferred direct.

Ron, VA3RVK will use the special callsign CF3A from Toronto from
March 9 through April 7 to celebrate the 250th jubilee of the
postal services in Canada. QSL via homecall.

Peter, VE3JPP will use VX3Z on the same occasion until March 28.
QSL via Homecall.

VK0, Antarctica:
Craig is on the air as VK0JJJ from the "Australian Antarctic
Division" (AAD) station Mawson and recently put a 6m beacon
into operation, using the call VK0RTM on 50.300 MHz.

W, USA:
Gene, K9UTQ plans to be QRV from the "USS Wisconsin Battleship BB-64"
during the Wisconsin QSO Party (March 9th) using the club call
of the "USS Wisconsin Radio Club", N4WIS. QSL only direct (QRZ.com).

Silent Key:
RSGB Life Vice President John Patrick Hawker, MBE (G3VA)
passed away on February 21, aged 90. For 50 years he wrote
the column "Technical Topics" for the RSGB and published
several technical books. 2006 he was introduced into the
"CQ Amateur Radio Hall of Fame", and awarded the "Member
of the Order of the British Empire" for his services to
radio communication.

Also Valery N. Metaxa (ER1DA) and Pavel V. Presnov (RU3UA)
went Silent Key. Rest in Peace.

Island Activities

AF-014; CT3; Madeira Archipelago: Rosel/DL3KWR and Hardy/DL3KWF will
once again be active from Madeira (DIP MA-001, PIP MD-001, WLOTA 0053).
From March 7 to April 3 they will be QRV as CT9/homecall in
CW and the digital modes, with a focus on the WARC bands. QSL
via homecall, eQSL; bureau QSLs can be requested at callsign@darc.de

AS-013; 8Q; Maldives: Wolfgang, OE1MWW, will work as 8Q7WK in holiday
style from March 9 to 23. QSL via Homecall.

NA-002; VP5; Caicos Islands: Urb/W1UL and his wife Patricia/W2PKV
will sign VP5/W1UL and VP5/W2PKV respectively, March 7 - 13, from
Providenciales Island (WLOTA 2003). Urb will work CW while
Patricia will work SSB on the HF bands and 6m. QSL for both
calls via W1UL (d/B).

NA-079; W4; Florida State (Dry Tortugas Islands) group: Pete/VE3IKV
plans another activity from W4. If the weather permits, he will
show up on the bands as VE3IKV/W4 on March 11 - 14 from Dry
Tortugas Islands. Pete works in CW on 30, 17 and 6m.

NA-101; J7; Dominica: From March 8 to 17, Rick/KK4GV will spend his
holidays on Dominica and plans to be QRV as J79GV in holiday

NA-105; FS/PJ7; Sint Maarten: Andy/DK5ON is on Saint Martin (DIFO FS-001,
WLOTA 0383) from March 10th to 29th and plans to get on the air as
FS/DK5ON on 80 - 6m. He'll also pay a visit to the other side of
the island and sign PJ7/DK5ON from there. QSL via DK5ON (d/B).

OC-015; T2; Tuvalu Island: Members of the GMDX group, Gavin/GM0GAV,
Clive/GM3POI, Robert/GM3YTS and Tom/GM4FDM, plan to be QRV as
T2GM from Tuvalu (WW Loc. RI91ol) from March 12 to 23. They will
operate with two stations on the HF bands. Bureau QSLs can be

OC-086; KH0; Northern Mariana Is. (incl. Rota, Saipan, Tinian,
etc.): Sam, JE1XUZ (KH0XH), and Tama, JQ2WTT (KH0XW), will,

1333). From the location of the "Saipan BBQ Contest Club"
they will take part in the CQ WPX SSB Contest (March 30/31)

OC-161; YB6; Nias and Batu Islands: From March 8 to 13, Imam/YB4IR
will be QRV from Nias Islands as YB6N. QSL via YB4IR (d).

OC-245; YB5-6; Sumatras Coastal Islands North: Adhi/YB3MM organizes
an adventure trip to Rondo Island (WW Loc. NJ76nb). Activities
are planned from March 9 to 17, using the special callsign YE6A.
It also counts for the Pulau Rondo Lighthouse (ARLHS IDO-369,
WLOTA 0501, Admiralty F1300). QSL via IZ8CCW (d/B).

SA-099; PJ2, Curacao: Mike W1USN (RNARS #3889), Bob AA1M, and Scott,
W1SSR, will sign PJ2/homecall from March 8 - 22 from Curacao
(SA-099, WLOTA 0942) on 160 - 10m in SSB, CW, PSK and RTTY.
