23/01/2015:  Kenji, JA4GXS will once again be active as JA4GXS/5 from Shodo Island (AS-200) between 23-25 January. Plans are to be QRV on 40-15 metre CW and SSB. QSL via home call, direct or Bureau. [rsgbiota.org]

23/01/2015:  On Friday, 23rd January, operators Finn OZ3FI, Henning OZ7HB and Jakob OU25AEI [aka OZ7AEI] will activate Himmerlandske heder (WWFF OZFF-075), Nordjylland. They will start approx noon and will go QRT at sunset. Note - Jakob, OZ7AEI will use the special callsign OU25AEI for all portable activations in 2015. This is for his 25th anniversery as a Ham. 23/01/2015:  Operators of SP9YFF team will be active from the 23rd till 25th of January 2015 from Mountain Ranges around the Gorce and Pieniny. They plan to activate: Myslenice 1 Castle (WCA SP-00794, ZWP MMQ02) located in Rezerwat Przyrody Zamczysko nad Raba (WWFF SPFF-0755, PGA MQ03). Czorsztyn Castle (WCA SP-00812, ZWP MNT01) located in Rezerwat Zamek Czorsztyn (WWFF SPFF-1035, PGA NT03). Rezerwat Przyrody Zielone Skalki (WWFF SPFF-0559, PGA NT07). Gorczanski Park Narodowy (WWFF SPFF-0007, PGA LI09). 2k Torfowiska Orawsko-Nowotarskie (WWFF SPFF-0560, PGA NT08). They plan to work on all bands as SP9YFF/p. 24/01/2015:  Radio-Club Cambresien, F8KGN, will activate the Cathedral notre dame de Cambrai (DCF 024) on Saturday, 24th January. QRV starting 09:00 local time on 40 metres. Other bands if conditions and propagation allow. QSL via direct or Bureau. [F6FNA]

24/01/2015:  Once again operators Mek SP7VC, Ted SP3IPB and YL Kate SQ7OYL will be on a Caribbean tour but will also have operators Bogdan K2RPF, Zbyszek SP3CFM and Jerzy SP7TF join them. They plan to activate several islands between 24th January and 14th February, 2015. The tentative schedule, islands and callsigns have been announced: 24-26 January - Martinique (NA-107, DIFO FM-001, WLOTA 1041); FM/SP7VC and FM/SP7TF. 27 January to 3 February - St. Lucia (NA-108, WLOTA 1336); as J6/homecalls. 4-5 February - St. Vincent (NA-109, WLOTA 0492); as J8/homecalls. 6-7 February - Grenada (NA-024, WLOTA 0718); as J3/homecalls. 7-8 February - Carriccou island (NA-147, Grenada IOTA); as J3/homecalls. 8-9th February - Union island (NA-025, Grenadies IOTA); as J8/homecalls. 13-14 February - Martinique (NA-107, DIFO FM-001, WLOTA 1041); as FM/homecalls. Activity will be holiday style on 160-6 metres using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. Their equipment consists of TS-590, FT-847, FT-857 and with three Amp (500W). 24/01/2015:  The KP1-5 Project and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service have been working together on preparations for our joint 14 day visit to Navassa Island (NA-098, USi OI009S, WW Loc. FK28LJ) National Wildlife Refuge (WWFF KFF-131). Although the actual dates may still vary, it now appears they will begin transport to the island during the last week of January 2015. Also, it is official...the call sign will be K1N. An excellent team of fifteen operators who will be manning eight stations 24 hours/day, dedicated to giving out as many contacts as possible over the two week period. Team members are: George AA7JV, Ralph K0IR, Bob K4UEE, John K6MM, Craig K9CT, Tomi KT4TTT/HA7RY, Lou N2TU, George N4GRN, Mike N6MZ, Mike NA5U, Jeff NM1Y, Glenn W0GJ, John W2GD, Gregg W6IZT and Jerry WB9Z. This activation will also count for the Navassa Island Lighhouse (ARLHS NAV-001, Admiralty J5362). 24/01/2015:  Tony, VK3VTH, plans to activate Brisband Ranges National Park (WWFF VKFF-055) on 24th January (0600z - 0800z) as VK3VTH/p, depending on wx conditions. QRV mainly on 14244 kHz, listening long-path for European stations. QSL via home call, direct or Bureau. Log will be uploaded to LoTW and eQSL. [DX Newsletter]

24/01/2015:  Denis, ZL4DB will collect his VP8DOZ, South Georgia Island (AN-007, WWFF GFF-027) license in Stanley, Falkland Islands, around 24th January. Denis will arrive at King Edward Point, near Grytviken, around 27th January and will be tasked with providing comms for a helicopter operation as part of the South Georgia Habitat Restoration Project. His time for ham radio will be largely dictated by the weather. If its adverse for flying, then he'll be off to the shack. The operation is scheduled to end late March/early April, 2015. His rig is a TS-480 barefoot into a 17/20m GP. The TS-480 has auto-tuner so he may appear on other bands. He will only be operating SSB. QSL information will be posted on QRZ.com. 26/01/2015:  Karl, DK2WV will be active again as 7Q7VW from Radio Dinosaur FM - Karonga Museum (WW Loc. KI60XB), Malawi, from 26 January to 6 February. He plans to be QRV on 160-6 metres. 26/01/2015:  Gene, WI7N will be active holiday style as WI7N/4 from Dauphin Island (NA-213, USi AL002S), Mobile county, Alabama, on 26-28th January. It will be "a casual operation" with main activity during his evening hours. QSL via WI7N, direct or Bureau, and LoTW. [425 DX News]

27/01/2015:  Jean-pierre F6ITD will be FG/F6ITD from Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe island between 27th January and 30th March, 2015. He will be QRV from Guadeloupe Island (NA-102, DIFO FG-019, WLOTA 0644, WWFF FFF-155) from 27th January to 1st February and from Desirade Island (NA-102, DIFO FG-004, WLOTA 1121) for the rest of the time. He will on the HF bands and 6m using SSB and the Digital modes. He will use the TO6D callsign during the week-end. The logs will be uploaded to ClubLog and LoTW. [F6AJA]

30/01/2015:  Joe, K5KUA will once again be active as K5KUA/5 from Galveston Island (NA-143, USi TX001S), Galveston county, Texas, between 30th January and 1st February. Plans are to be QRV on 40-10 metre CW only, as time permits. QSL direct or Bureau to K5KUA. [rsgbiota.org]

30/01/2015:  Chuck, W7AUM reports that he's going on a cruise with his 90 year old father to the Caribbean and plans to operate QRP/portable on white sand beaches as follows: Friday, 30th January from the island of St. Thomas (NA-106) as KP2/W7AUM. Monday, 2nd February from the island of Curacao (SA-099, WLOTA 0942) as PJ2/W7AUM. Friday, 6th February from Grand Cayman Island (NA-016, WLOTA 1042) as ZF2UM. QSL to W7AUM. [DX-World]

25/02/2015:  The Palos Verdes Amateur Radio Club will be active again as K6PV/6 from Santa Catalina Island (NA-066, USi CA-016S, WLOTA 2912), Los Angeles County, California, between 25th February and 1st March. YOUNGSTERS ON THE AIR ITALY 2015 -
It's already time for the 5th edition of the Youngsters On The Air summer event. In 2015 the youth radio camp will take place in Italy, organized by ARI (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani).

In this week teams of young radio amateurs from several countries will be participating in all kind of amateur radio activities. Think about workshops, contesting and ARDF, we will try to show many aspects of the radio hobby. Off course you will also get the chance to learn about other cultures, in the famous intercultural evening you will get the chance to try food and drinks from all participating countries. As we go to Italy, we will also show you the country and Italian traditions.

This is just a little bit about what we are going to do in this event. It will be a great experience for all participants which they will never forget. To get a better feeling about this, have a look at the gallery from previous events.

When: 18-25 July 2015

Participants: each IARU member society is invited to take part with a team. A team consist of maximum 5 persons, 4 Persons with the age 15-25 years and one person is dedicated as team leader.

Location: Marina di Massa, Tuscany

Fees: travel costs to Pisa airport and Euro 25 per participant All other costs (accommodation, food, activities) will be covered, main funder of the event is IARU R1.

If your member society is interested to participate, please respond to italy@ham-yota.com by 27 January 2015 with sending in this Application form YOTA2015. There is a limit of 75 participants. Make sure you will apply in time. We will announce the participating countries shortly after the deadline.
