06/02/2015: For the second year in a row the amateur society VERON, branch Nijmegen, will activate the special event station PA70OV between 6-8th February, 2015. Activity is to commemorate Operation Veritable, the successor of Operation Market Garden. Operation Veritable is not known very well to most people. It was the battle which formed the prelude to the leap across the Rhine after which the eventual defeat of Germany soon followed. They would like us to commemorate and celebrate 70 years of freedom in the Gennep-Nijmegen region. K1Navassa Island Update - January 27

The following update is from the Navassa Island DXpedition website -

Electra is anchored on the south side of Great Inagua, 170 nautical miles north of Navassa. The weather is slowly deteriorating with winds at 15 knots (at 09:00 AM). Winds are expected to increase during the next three days to 25 - 30 knots. We will move today to find a more comfortable anchorage ahead of the stronger winds.

The forecast for the period of Jan 30 - Feb 03 is not favorable. Winds in the Windward Passage (between Cuba and Haiti) are forecast to start blowing from the north-east at 20 knots on the 30th, increasing to 25 to 30 knots on the 31st. Winds will remain strong in the passage until Feb 02. Around Navassa, winds are likely to be lighter, around 15 knots, [The Daily DX]

Ten team members have arrived in Jamaica. Two more arrive tomorrow and work begins to process container under oversight by Jamaican officials. Tomorrow will be a work-intensive day. [DX-World]

Yves, F5PRU (ex-FT5GA, J20FH) has been occasionally active from Chad as TT8CY since December 24, 2014. He is there for a few months. He's on air with a dipole (40-10m) and may try 80m in the weeks ahead. QRV mainly CW, some SSB. QSL via F5PRU and eQSL. [DX-World]
