Other Information
=================
Changes at the DXMB/DXNL:
Effective edition #1922 Friedrich zur Hellen, DL4BBH, stepped
down
from editing the information on IOTA, WWFF, SOTA, and COTA after
half a year. He remains active for the DARC Committee DX and
HF-Contesting as one of our award managers and will still be
responsible for the DX-Toplist.
His successor as editor will be Andreas-Christian Salder, DK5ON,
from Bielefeld. He is active since 1984, first as DG6YEW, and
later
as DH2YAU. He is particularly interested in collecting awards
(DIG
4407) and contesting. He hopes to put his own experiences in
activating IOTA, LH, SOTA, GMA, and WWFF-references to good use
with us. Andreas-Christian also went on DXpeditions to LX, PJ2,
PJ7, and FS in the past. We heartily welcome him into the team
and
wish the best of success.
Enrico Stumpf-Siering, DL2VFR
Chairman DARC Committee DX and HF-Contesting
K1N-Navassa Island:
After the first half of the DXpedition the logs contain about
70000
QSOs, including QSOs with Europe on 6m. The ongoing shenanigans
on
the bands once more emphasise the neccessity to refer to
HAM-spirit, which sadly seems lacking in the pile-ups. Please
follow directions of the operators (calling particular
continents
or number areas) and remain patient. http://navassadx.com/
Bouvet 2016 Project:
Mark, ON4WW, has published a new press release concerning the
financing of his project "Bouvet 2016" and current developments.
He
has already received a license for Bouvet from the Norwegian
regulations office. For the complete text see:
12th "Antarctic Activity Week" 2015:
For an award around the 12th Antarctic Activity Week (Feb.
16-22)
Silent Key:
Frank Brooker, 9Y4VU, died unexpectedly at his home San
Fernando,
Trinidad. Frank was one of the few local Caribbean contesters
and
an avid CW operator. Between the 1970s and 1990s he organised
impressive Multi-operator contest efforts together with K6NA and
N6TJ. After losing his huge antenna setup and with ongoing
health
troubles Frank had lately concentrated his activity on 6m.
Joerg Issler, DL3SA, a pioneer of post-WWII amateur radio in
south-western Germany died on Jan. 28. In 1946 he set up a QSL
bureau for the WBRC (Wuerttembergisch-Badischer Radio Club) and
in
1948 published the first edition of a foundational book on HF
radio
together with Kurt Schips (DL1DA). Later he was also involved in
setting up the repeater DK0TZ in Schwieberdingen.
