5P0, DENMARK (Special Event). Look for many special event stations signing
5P0WARD/xx or 5P0WHD/xx (with different suffixes) to be active on April
18th, between 0000-2400z, to celebrate the "IARU 94th World Amateur Radio
Day". QSL via OZ1ACB. A special 5P0WARD Award is available for working
the many different 5P0WARD/xx and 5P0WHD/xx stations (different suffix).
Please send no paper QSL to them. ClubLog, LoTW and eQSL will all be for
the callsign 5P0WARD and 5P0WHD (with no extended suffix)! For details,

5X, UGANDA. Anders, SM0HPL, is once again active as 5X7W from Kampala
until April 27th. Activity will be limited to his spare time (due to his
job) on 20-10 meters (possibly 30m) using CW, JT65 and FT8. QSL via SM0HPL,
ClubLog or LoTW.
 
9G, GHANA. Matteo, IZ4YGS, will once again be active as 9G5GS from Sanzule,
West Takoradi (Western Region), Ghana, between April 13th and May 7th.
Matt informed OPDX back in December that he travels to Ghana almost every
month for work reasons. Activity will be limited to his spare time. He is
usually on "almost every evening" on 20/30/40/60/80/160m; Setup FT-891,
small 300w amp and vertical antenna, using mostly FT8 and SSB. On FT8
(Fox-Hound Mode) the suggested frequencies are: 3567, 7056, 10131 and
14090 kHz. QSL via IZ4YGS, direct or eQSL.
 
9U, BURUNDI. Francesco, IV3TMM, will once again be active as 9U3TMM from
Bujumbura (WW Loc. KI46QP) between August 31st and September 17th. Activity
will be on 60-6 meters using SSB, RTTY and FT8. QSL via IV3TMM, by the
A.R.I. Italian Bureau, ClubLog or LoTW.
 
CO0, CUBA (Special Event). Every April 18th, radio amateurs from all over
the world take to the airwaves to celebrate "World Radio Amateur Day". It
was on that day in 1925, when the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU)
was formed in Paris.
The Federacion de Radio Aficionados de Cuba (FRC), a member of the
IARU, will participate in the celebrations for the 94th anniversary of
the IARU creation by activating the special event station, CO0HK, which
will be on the air from Cayo Jutia, in the Pinar del Rio Province between
April 19-21st. Operators mentioned are Miguel/CO1CB, Nelson/CO3HK, Alay/
CM2AML, Leonardo/CL2BR and Darien/CL2DCL. Activity will be on 40/20/15/10/2
meters using SSB and the Digital modes. QSL via W7HU only direct. QSL cards
will be offered to the first 100 stations contacted.
 
CR3/CT9, MADEIRA. Tibi, OM3RM/CT9ABN, will be active as CR3DX from Porto
Moniz, Madeira Island, during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 25-26th) as
a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. He will be on the island between
May 21-29th, so activity outside of the contest will be on 80-10 meters
using the callsign CT9ABN. QSL via OM2VL, direct or by the Bureau. Please
don't send QSL via CT Bureau; use OM QSL Bureau or direct.
 
CZ, CANADA. Gerry, VE1RM/W1VE, will be using the special callsign, CZ1Z,
during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 25-26th) as a Single-Op/High-Power
entry. QSL via LoTW. The CZ1Z special callsign belongs to the Yukon CanAm
Contest Club (VY1AAA). The special callsign is part of the 50th anniversary
celebration of the Official Languages Act of Canada. Canada amateurs will
be using these special prefixes for this celebration between March 28th
and May 28th. The VEs may change their prefix to CK, VA may use CJ, VY may
use CZ and VO can use CY.
 
E5, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS (Reminder). Operators Bruce/AD7MM, along with his
XYL Marilyn, KI7DLK, and Doug/W6HB will once again be active as E51BAS,
E51MAS and E51DLD, respectively, from Rarotonga Island (OC-013) between
April 21-28th. There may be some operations from the stations of Jim/E51JD
and Bob/E51BQ. Activity will be holiday style on various HF bands, modes,
with two stations with 100 watts and wire antennas. QSL via their home
callsigns or LoTW.
 
EF8, CANARY ISLANDS. Juan, EA8RM (ex-EA8CAC), will be active as EF8R
during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 25-26th) as a Single-Op/All-Band
entry. QSL via LoTW or EB7DX.
 
EG1, SPAIN (Special Event). Members of the Radio Club de las Fuerzas
Armadas Españolas (RCFAS) will be active as EG1FAS to commemorate the
Armed Forces in Spain between May 4th and June 2nd. QSL via the Bureau
or QSL Manager EA1ADP.
 
FO/M, MARQUESAS ISLANDS (Press Release #1, date April 9th). Bob, K4UEE,
sent of the following [edited]: Members of the CAN-AM DXpedition Group
will be operating from the Island of Hiva Oa in the Marquesas Islands
for 10-12 days between November 6-19th, 2019. The Marquesas Islands rank
#60 on the ClubLog's DXCC "Most Wanted List". Operations will include
all available bands, 160m-10m and CW, SSB and FT8. Operators are: F6BCW,
K4UEE, K5PI, W5MJ, W5SJ, W5RF, VA7DX and VE7KW. This includes the operators
from TX5T last year. QSLs will be available via direct and LoTW. A website
and further details will be available soon.
 
GB0, SCOTLAND (Special Event). Members of the Inverness & District Amateur
Radio Society will be active as GB0BOC from the Culloden Battlefield,
Scotland, on April 16th. Activity is to commemorate the anniversary of
the 1746 battle. No paper QSL. QSL via LoTW or eQSL only. For more details
 
HZ, SAUDI ARABIA. Samir, HZ1SK, from Jeddah will be active during the CQMM
DX Contest (April 20-21st). QSL via IZ8CLM.
 
IOTA NEWS..............
AS-024. Operators Tak/JR1LZK and Mitsu/JE1HXZ will be active as JR1LZK/6
and JE1HXZ/6, respectively, from Iriomote Island between April
26th and May 6th. Activity will be on 80-6 meters using CW,
SSB, RTTY and FT8. QSL via their home callsigns, direct, by
the Bureau and LoTW.
 
AS-079. Take, JS6RRR/JI3DST, will be active from Miyako Island between
April 24th and May 7th. He will use the following callsign:
JI3DST/6 for DX, and JS6RRR/6 & JL3YWN/6 for JA stations.
Activity will be on 80/40/30/20/17/15/12/10/6 meters using
CW, SSB, FM, RTTY and FT8. Operations may vary in case of
heavy rains or other conditions. QSL routes are as follows:
JI3DST/6 via JI3DST; JS6RRR/6 via JS6RRR and JL3YWN/6: ONLY
1 WAY (Please don't send QSL to him). Please check QRZ.com
for details. Look for logs to be posted on ClubLog.
 
EU-011. Operators Steve/G4EDG, Jeff/G4ELZ and Pete/G4GSA will be active
as GB5SM from St.Mary's, Isles of Scilly, between April 20-27th.
Activity will be on various HF bands using CW, SSB, the Digital
modes and possibly the Satellites. QSL via LZ1JZ, direct or
OQRS. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW and ClubLog.
 
EU-068. Members of the F6KOP Radio Club will be active as TM5S from
Sein Island during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th) as a
Multi-Single/DXpedition/Mixed-Mode/Low-Power entry. QSL via
F5MFV, by the Bureau, direct, ClubLog or eQSL. Operators
mentioned are Maurice/F5NQL, Raymond/F6DVH, Pierre-Marie/F4FCE,
Bastien/F4EYQ and Fabien/F4GYM.
 
EU-122. Ian, G3WVG, will be active as MN5A from Rathlin Island, North-
ern Ireland, during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th) as a
Single-Op/Mixed-Mode/DXpedition entry. QSL via LoTW.
 
NA-143. Joe, K5KUA, will once again be active as K5KUA/5 from Galveston
Island (USI TX-001S, Galveston County, Texas) during the RSGB
IOTA Contest (July 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Island-Fixed/Low-
Power entry. Operations will be mostly CW and some SSB. QSL
via his home callsign, direct, by the Bureau or LoTW.
 
OC-059. Haru, JA1XGI, will be active as V6K from Kosrae Island some-
time later in the year. Activity will be holiday style on
40/30/20/15/10 meters using mainly CW, sometimes FT8. QSL
via his home callsign, direct, by the Bureau, ClubLog's OQRS
or LoTW. Look for more details to be forthcoming.
 
OC-133. Saty, JE1JKL, will once again be active as 9M6NA from Mohammed's,
9M6MO, QTH on Labuan Island, East Malaysia, during the CQWW WPX
CW Contest (May 25-26th). He will be on the island between May
23-28th., His focus will be on 6 meters FT8 (50.313 and 50.323
MHz). Also, FT8 (F/H) on 50.318 MHz. QSL via ClubLog's OQRS
only for Bureau and direct QSLs. All the logs are promptly

OC-207/ (Cancelled) The DX1CC DXpedition by operators Ed/4F1OZ and
OC-128. Gil/4F2KW from Arena Island (OC-207), Philippines, expected
to take place between April 12-15th, has been cancelled "due
to some unforeseen circumstances." The OC-207 activity may take
place at a later date. However, they might be active from
Palawan Island (OC-128) on the same dates, April 12-15th.
 
OC-235. Operators Audie/DU1ZDR and Gazelle/DU1ZDQ will be active as
DZ1A from Patrick's on the Beach, Siargao Island, between May
4-5th. Activity will be on specifically IOTA frequencies
14260 and 7055 kHz using CW and SSB.

decided NOT to post or dedicate a Web page to announce upcoming IOTA
operations, PLEASE send your IOTA operations information to the OPDX,

J2, DJIBOUTI (Reminder). By the time you read this, the J20DX team will
be activating the first of two IOTAs between April 13-21st: Moucha Island
(AF-053) and the super rare Sept Frere (AF-059) (aka Seven Brothers,
Sawabi or Seba Islands). The team will be active as J20NT from their
hotel in Djibouti between April 13-14th (city not mentioned). Activity
will be on 80-6 meters. Tentative dates for AF-059 (signing as J20DX)
are April 16th-18th/19th, and for AF-053 (signing as J20DX/p) are April
18th/19th-19th/20th. The current list of operators has been updated to
Col/MM0NDX, Jonathan/MM0OKG and Christian/EA3NT. QSL via M0SDV, ClubLog

J7, DOMINICA. Laurent, FM5BH, is once again active as J79BH from Dominica
(NA-096) until April 16th. His QTH is Calibishie on a cliff in the north
part of Dominica. Activity will be holiday style on 160-40 meters using
mostly CW, with 200 watts (TS480HX) into a Buddistick. QSL via FM5BH.
 
K7, UNITED STATES (Special Event). For one week, beginning May 12th,
operators Jerry/N7WR and Tim/KC8RYO will activate special event station,
K7P, in honor of National Police Week. They will be on the air (SSB only,
General portions of the HF bands) as their schedules permit. There is a
commemorative QSL card (SASE required) for those who QSL to the K7P
address as listed on QRZ.com. The purpose of this special event is to
call attention to the men and women of law enforcement who have given
their lives in the line of duty. This special event is in cooperation
with the Concerns of Police Survivors organization.
 
MJ, JERSEY. Operators Marek/MJ0ILB, Lidor/MJ0IKL, Vláda/OK1FIK, Honza/
OK1NP, Jozef/OK1FWM and Zdenek/OK3RM will be active using their own per-
sonal callsigns, be it the native Jersey callsign or the CEPT variant
of their home callsign, near St. Brélade, Jersey (EU-013), between July
21-29th. Activity will be on various HF bands, including 6 meters using
CW, SSB and some Digital modes. The team will be active as MJ0ICD during

RARE U.S. (MAINE) GRIDS (HF/SAT/POTR/WWFF Op). Operators Matt/W1PY and
Sean/KX9X will be activating the rare grids of Maine the weekend of April
28th. Grids to be activated are: FN53-54-55-56-57-65-66-67. The current
plans are to spend Saturday, April 27th, in the potato field at the inter-
section of FN's 56-57-66-67. They will also be on HF at up to 8 Maine
state parks for the "Parks on the Air", the "World-Wide Flora and Fauna"
awards programs, and any interesting roadside attraction they stumble
upon while on the road. A detailed satellite operations schedule is to be

S7, SEYCHELLES. Russian operators Leonid/RA0AM and Evgenyi/RA0ANR are
now active as S79AM and S79ANR, respectively, from Seychelles, until
April 19th. Activity will be from several Islands all in IOTA AF-024.
Operations will be on 20-10 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes.

S9, SAO TOME & PRINCIPE. Operators of the LazyDxers Team (Jose/EA1ACP,
Charly/EA1DVY, Pedro/EA5BJ, Gen/EA5EL, Francisco/EA7FTR, David/EB7DX and
Helio/S92HP) will be active as S9A from Sao Tome Island (AF-023) between
June 6-18th. Activity will be on various HF bands using CW, SSB and FT8.

is a reissued callsign that was used in the 2004 CQWW CW Contest. QSL
via OH2TA.
 
SILENT KEY. It has been reported that Larry R. Poorman, W8VKO/DL8VKO,
became a Silent Key (SK) on Saturday, April 13th, 2019. He was a member
of the GMA (Global Mountain Activity Group -- http://www.cqgma.net/)
and enjoyed activating mountain summits (Alps of Austria, Switzerland
and Lichtenstein)! OPDX and its reader would like to send out our deepest
sympathy to the family and friend of W8VKO/DL8VKO.
 
T32, EASTERN KIRIBATI (Reminder). Ken, KH6QJ, will once again be active
as T32AZ from Crystal Lodge, Kiritimati Island [Christmas Island](OC-024)
between April 16-23rd. Activity will be on 80/40/20/15 meters, but will
focus on 40 meters using CW and SSB. QSL via his home call, direct or by
the Bureau.
 
T43, CUBA. Members of the Special Group of Expeditions and Competitions
(GEEC) will be active using the special callsign T43A from the Province
of Artemisa, in the western part of the Republic of Cuba, between 0000
UTC, May 16th and 0000 UTC, May 20th. This operation is celebrating their
first anniversary. Activity will be on 80-10 meters, including 60 meters,
using CW, SSB, RTTY and FT8. QSL via RW6HS.
 
TF, ICELAND (SSTV). Between April 9-23rd, Lucy, KD2MFV, an artist-in-
residence at "SIM" (https://sim.is/seljavegur-residency), in Reykjavik,
Iceland, will partner with Jón, TF3JA, an Icelandic Radio Amateur and

to transmit images via SSTV. The images, appropriated from the Reykjavik
Museum of Photography's collection, are of Icelandic glaciers photographed
in a time before we knew climate change existed. Lucy is asking HAM radio
operators who receive her long-range image transmissions to print out
the images received and mail them back to her using instructions on her
Web site (www.lucyhelton.com). She will be updating the blog daily. In
exchange, when she has assembled the printed pieces to reconstruct the
whole image transmitted, she will make QSL postcards of the completed
images and mail them back to the participating HAMs. The resulting art-
work will be a collaborative fine art example of long-range communications
between humans,concerning accelerated environmental change. She would
greatly appreciate it if you could please notify the ARRL's HAM members
of the existence of this project.
Transmissions -- Each single transmission consists of 12 x SSTV images.
She will be transmitting 5 different glacier images over 15 days. The
SSTV calling frequency and daily transmission times are (frequency will
be + / - 5kHz):

VK9N, NORFOLK ISLAND (Reminder). With VI9I going QRT by the time you read
this, Rob, VK2FBBB, will once again be active as VK2FBBB/VK9 from Norfolk
Island (OC-005) between April 14-27th. Activity is usually and mainly on
40 meters, with an occasional 80 meters operations after 6 pm (local time)
each night. QSL via VK2 Bureau.
 
VP8/OS, SOUTH ORKENY ISLANDS DXPEDITION (Update). The South Orkney Islands
DXpedition (AN-008) has added another operator to the team for their planned
operation in Feb/Mar of 2020. The team of operators now includes: Dave/K3EL
(Team Leader), Les/W2LK (Co-Team Leader), Steve/W1SRD, Ricardo/PY2PT,
Gene/K5GS (Co-Organizer and Treasurer), Arliss/W7XU (Medical Officer),
Heye/DJ9RR, Laci/HA0NAR, Mike/WA6O, Vadym/UT6UD, Walt/N6XG, Rob/N7QT and
Ken/NG2H (newly added). They will fill the last open position soon. For

WP4, PUERTO RICO. Felipe, NP4Z, will be active as WP4X from San Juan
during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 28-29th) as a Single-Op/High-Power
entry. QSL via N4AO.
 
XT2, BURKINA FASO (Reminder/Update). Max, DK1MAX, will once again be
active as XT2MAX from Burkina Faso between April 17-25th, 2019. Activity
will be holiday style on all bands using mostly CW and FT8. Max announced
this past week the following frequencies for FT8:
FT8 (F/H Mode): Planning to operate 5 kHz above the standard frequencies.
This depends on band usage and QRM situation. Look for XT2MAX on FT8
(F/H Mode) here: 1845, 3578, 5357/5362, 7079, 10141, 14079, 18105, 21079,
24920 and 28079 kHz. For JA station on 160m 1845/1908 kHz split.
 
FT8 (Normal Mode): QSOs will be on standard frequencies. In case of a
pileup, Max will move to F/H Mode and QSY.
 
QSL via DK1MAX, LoTW, eQSL, (no Bureau or SWL reports) and ClubLog.
NO PAPER QSLs.
 
YB, INDONESIA. Hans, YB2DX, will be active during the CQWW WPX CW Contest
(May 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (80m) entry. QSL via LoTW or
direct to his home callsign.
 
Z6, KOSOVO (Reminder). Operators Thomas/OZ1AA and Alex/OZ7AM will be
active as Z66Z from Novobërdë, Kosovo, between April 18-22nd. Activity
will be on 80-10 meters using CW, SSB and FT8. QSL via OZ1ACB, ClubLog's
OQRS or LoTW.
 
ZD7, ST. HELENA ISLAND. Gil, ZD7BG, will be active during the CQMM DX
Contest (April 20-21st). QSL via the info on QRZ.com.
 
ZD9, TRISTAN DA CUNHA (Cancelled). The ZD9EI DXpedition by operators
James/9V1YC, Decla/EI6FR and Patrick/EI9HX from Tristan da Cunha Island
(AF-029) in September has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
