Scientist Says Sun has Opened Three Coronal Holes:

eHam.net News – Experts believe that attention can only be paid if the hole starts to grow. Astronomers shared their observation of the sun: it has opened three wormholes. For the Earth, the increase may be a sign that geomagnetic Storms are approaching, as reported by Grifonsoft.ru. Chronicle.info Astronomers share their observation of the sun: it forms three holes. Experts believe that the Coronal Hole in the sun may Cause the Earth to be stationary, but given the size of the new three holes, the probability of a Storm is very low. In this case, if these holes begin to increase to cover the growing area of the sun, the Earth may not be able to avoid geomagnetic storms.

National Seashore to Host Events Commemorating Titanic, Marconi:

eHam.net News – EASTHAM — The Cape Cod National Seashore will host two events commemorating wireless communication and the role it played to rescue survivors from the sinking of the Titanic. Wireless messages sent from the Marconi station in Wellfleet on April 14, 1912 to the Titanic were also received by the ship Carpathia. San Francisco Discloses Security Flaw in Public Warning System:

eHam.net News – The San Francisco Department of Technology announced Thursday that it has patched a vulnerability to the city-county’s public siren system that would have allowed a malicious actor to take control of the system and potentially cause citywide panic. The city first learned of the vulnerability in February after being notified by researchers from San Francisco-based security firm Bastille. A subsequent disagreement between the local government and the firm regarding how to handle the vulnerability’s remediation resulted in the two parting ways to release separate public notices of what was uncovered. San Francisco’s public warning system, which includes sirens, voice and visual components, has never been used in an emergency since being installed in 1942 in preparation of air raids during World War II. The system : known locally as the Tuesday noon siren, because it is tested every Tuesday at noon : was repaired, upgraded and expanded in 2005 with federal funding. San Francisco’s executive director in the Department of Technology, Linda Gerull, says her department and the Department of Emergency Management worked with ATI Systems to patch its system and are continuing testing. According to a draft public advisory obtained by StateScoop, the vulnerability found has never been seen before. DoT Spokesperson Lauren Jones told StateScoop that a firmware update provided by ATI Systems adds 128-bit encryption to the system’s messaging, adding that before the patch, the system had weak encryption. “Could it stop (a sophisticated actor)? I don’t know, but I think it would stop most hobbyists, pirate radio fanatics, ham radio enthusiasts,” Jones said about the new encryption. The city’s notice states that “this encryption is designed to make each transmission unique and avoid logically detectable patterns in the messages. This communication structure will disguise the command format.”

NWS Training More Eyes on the Sky:

eHam.net News – Don’t let the rare measurable snowfalls fool you, it is spring in Indiana and severe weather is on the horizon. Members of the Montgomery County Emergency Management Office, Community Emergency Response Team and the National Weather Service are looking for volunteers to become trained storm spotters. The free training class will be offered at 6:30 p.m. April 16 at the EMA Operation Center, 1201 E. Elmore St. Brian Campbell, local assistant EMA director, said storm spotters are important to the area’s safety and overall emergency response. “We want our storm spotters to stay safe and we do not encourage them to go into harms way,” Campbell said. “We have the local ham radio group who will go to particular locations and we do rely on them to be our mobile eyes. We can then use them to help us in the areas that might be damaged from a tornado to get information to EMA, so we can relay info to our emergency responders.”
