First Worry Later" (WFWL).

2M, SCOTLAND (Satellite/Low Band Op). Paul, 2E1EUB, will once again be
active as 2M1EUB for 14 days beginning August 5th. He will be driving
around Scotland for anyone looking for new grids or grids they have not
worked yet. Activity will be on 160m, 80m, and the satellites (mostly
AO-7 B/A mode), as well as 2m SSB. He does accept E-mails and will arrange
skeds to work him at <2e1eub@amsat.org>. Check out QRZ.com under 2M1EUB
for more info and updates.

60M ANNIVERSARY (Can You Believe It?). It was brought to our attention
by the "60m News" that July 4th, is the 10th anniversary of 60 meters
becoming available to U.S amateurs. {ed. Boy does time fly!}

6V, SENEGAL (Reminder). Vladimir "Vlad", RK4FF, will once again be active
as 6V7S from Le Calao in Ngaparou between July 10-16th. Activity will
probably be on 80/40/20/15/10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. He is
scheduled to be here one more time this year: October 22nd-November
27th. QSL via RK4FF. Log is available on ClubLog. Check out QRZ.com
for some pictures.

9H, MALTA. Nakanishi, JJ2NYT, will be active as 9H1N from Malta between
August 2-5th. Activity will be holiday style on 40-10 meters using CW
and SSB. QSL via his home callsign.

AT20, INDIA (Special Event). Arasu, VU2UR, will be active as AT20RRC
from Bangalore during the month of July. Activity is to celebrate 20th
anniversary of the Russian Robinson Club (RRC). Operations will be on
the HF bands. QSL "ONLY" via eQSL (NOT via VU2UR).

CE0X, SAN FELIX (Update). Mike, WU2D, informed OPDX this past week: "If
I actually get permission and time, I will attempt to activate CE0X/WU2D.
I likely will start calling then filter by districts and zones and will
be on 14.185 or 190 TX and listening up 5 to start. I also want to try
CW on 30M since Chile just opened that up and it will be a first for San
Felix. Realistically, I cannot see that I will be operational until
Wed-Thursday the July 12-13th.... 73's Mike"

CR2, AZORES (LH Op!). Operators Leonel/CU3EJ, Antonio/CU8AS, Siggi/DL2HYH,
Willy/HB9AHL and Hermann/HB9CRV/CT3FN will activate the lighthouse for
the first time on Formigas Island (EU-003, WLOTA LH-4293, ARLHS AZO-001
and WWFF/DPRN CTFF-039) as CR2F between July 30-31st. QSL via HB9CRV,
direct, by the Bureau or LoTW. For updates, watch:

D2, ANGOLA. João, CT2HPM, is now active as D2CT from Luanda until July
26th. Activity will be 20-10 meters using mostly PSK31 and RTTY. QSL
via his home callsign.

EI, IRELAND. Olivier, ON4EI, will once again be active as EI8GQB and EI1A
between July 7-31st. He plans to operate from his caravan using green
energy. Olivier will activate the EI1A callsign during:
- The IARU HF Worldchampionship Contest July 13-14th
- The CQ WW VHF Contest July 20-21st (on 50 MHz only)
- The RSGB IOTA Contest July 27-28th.
His objective is to enjoy radio, run the contest with green energy only
and score among the "TOP 10" world stations in the SOABLP category. You
can follow his activities and antenna experimentation on:
This is a very interesting QRZ.com page. There you will find a live
information banner with on air frequencies and information. His equipment
will consist of:
18m top loaded vertical monopole for 160-80m-40m bands + 32 radials.
3 elements East-West directional inverted V beam for 40m band.
200m long beverage RX antenna East-West directional.
2 Spiderbeam antennas for 20/15/10m bands.
Rigs are Elecraft K3+P3 & Kenwood TS2000 100W.
500Ah battery bank + 180W solar panel and 400W wind generator.
Also, live video streaming will be provided on:
QSL via PA3249, direct or by the Bureau.

ET, ETHIOPIA. Ken, K4ZW, will once again be back in Addis Ababa between
July 12-19th. He plans to operate from ET3AA, the Ethiopian Amateur Radio
Society (EARS) club station. He mentions to OPDX that most of his time
will be spent on CW, but is going to try and be active on RTTY as well.
Ken also states to look for ET3AA HQ station during the IARU HF World
Championship (July 13-14th). QSLs go to N2OO. In fact, Bob is handling
QSLs now for ET3AA, but he doesn't have all of the logs. There is a
chart on the ET3AA QRZ.com Web page that lists the logs he does have.

FO/A & FO/M, AUSTRAL AND MARQUESAS ISLANDS. By the time you read this,
Vadym, UT6UD (ex-A35UD and S21XV), will be active as FO/UT6UD from the
Hiva Oa Island (OC-027), Marquesas Island, until 1500z, July 13th. He
will then move onto Rurutu Island (OC-050), Austral Island. Vadym plans
to be there between 0400z, July 15th and 1600z, July 22nd. Activity will
be on 40-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. His equipment is a TS-590 and
verticals. QSL via UT6UD, direct or by the Bureau.

FS, ST. MARTIN (Reminder). Operators YL Kjerstin/AF6KJ and Travis/AF6WU
will be finishing up their activity as PJ7/homecall from Sint Maarten
(NA-105, WLOTA 0711) on July 9th, and then move onto St. Martin (NA-105,
WLOTA 0383) to be active as FS/homecall between July 10-14th. Activity
will be on multi-bands and multi-modes on HF according to the best
available propagation. QSL both callsigns via AF6WU, direct or by the
Bureau. Also eQSL, LoTW and Clublog. For direct QSLs, U.S. stations send
1 US stamp, 33 cents does it. DX stations send 1 USD or 1 IRC. Don't send
him a standard envelope, the card is large, 4" x 5.25", and it won't fit.

FS, ST. MARTIN. Operators Randy/N0TG, Ron/AA4VK and Jeff/N1SNB will
be active as FS/homecall from St. Martin (NA-105, WLOTA 0383) between
October 24-31st. Activity will probably be like their PJ7 operation -
a suitcase operation on 40-10 meters using CW and SSB, with wire antennas
and 100 watts. The trio will be active as FS/N1SNB during the CQWW DX SSB
Contest (October 26-27th). QSL "ALL" callsigns via AA4VK.

Also LoTW. For more info, see: http://www.calabriadxteam.it

IOTA ACTIVATIONS. Eric, W4OTN/3, informs OPDX that he is currently
planning on two IOTA DXpeditions: Smith Island (NA-140) and Hatteras
(Pea) Island (NA-067). The DXpedition to Smith Island is up in the air
due to him having to sail there, but the latter to Hatteras Island will
definitely happen unless there is some hurricane that forces him to stay
home. His plan is as follows:
NA-140 - Smith Island is a small island in Maryland's Chesapeake Bay.
Available only by boat, he will be sailing there to operate
from the marina using shore-based antennas and transceivers.
Eric will provide an update as it gets closer to the time to
make his way south. Operation will be over the last weekend
in July 2013 for the annual RSGB IOTA Contest. Activity will
most likely be 40-10 meters SSB. He may be able to do some
CW, depending on how much practice he get before then.

NA-067. Eric will be on vacation between August 4-10th on Hatteras
Island. Operating will be vacation-style and he will try to
be available on 40-6 meters using CW and SSB. Eric knows this
island group has been well represented in the past so he does
not expect many pileups, but maybe he can work some rare ones
himself!

QSL via LoTW, direct (w/SASE OR SAE and 1 IRC), or SKCC or the ARRL
Bureau. Eric will update everyone on his Web page as time gets closer for

IOTA ACTIVITY BY K6VVA (NA-004/NA-050/NA-172). Rick, K6VVA, sent out the
following info on June 30th [edited]: "The decision was just made about
NA-172, NA-004 and NA-050.
Look at the NOAA Forecast graph at <http://www.k6vva.com/iota/na172>.
Our planned dates for NA-172 were July 17-20th. NA-172 will unfortunately
NOT happen this year - the "handwriting is on the wall". ;-(
A new 'Game Plan' for next year (2014) will involve new advance arrange-
ments for a potentially MUCH longer stay on the mainland to wait out any
solar issues. This will also be a more costly activation due to added
'Polar Bear Guard' protection cautionary measures including paying for
the boat to remain at the Island with us in the event of a need for a
QRQ Exit. 'Safety First' is the highest priority for Mike/K9AJ and myself.
There are a lot of costly logistical matters to be rescheduled involving
the NA-172 activation.
That's the situation. Ditto for NA-004. However, I will still make a
THIRD attempt at NA-050 myself which is more 'turnkey' to accomplish,
and not as much $$$ loss risk if solar condx take a dump on the way
there, upon arrival or during the activation. ;-(
Stay tuned for more details, and check <http://www.twitter.com/k6vva>
for any updates.
FYI & 73,..... Rick, K 6 V V A * The Locust"
UPDATE FROM RICK: Rick was going to try to activate NA-050 this past
weekend, but he had to postpone -- "Due to increased unexpected solar
disturbances, Auroral Oval, potential NA-050 fog and now the likelihood
of departure delays and missed connections due to the re-routing of many
plane flights down to the San Jose Airport resulting from the unfortunate
plane crash at nearby SFO airport, this trip is being (postponed) again."

LDXG IS BORN (Press Release). Chris, DL1MGB, sent out the following on
July 4th [edited]: "During the 2013 Ham Radio Exhibition in Friedrichshafen
the foundation of the Lagunaria DX Group (LDXG) was announced. Several
operators founded together in 2007 when carrying out the VK9DNX DXpedition
to Norfolk Island. The group also went to VK9DWX (Willis Island 2008) and
ZL8X (Kermadec Islands 2010). And it was the technical and operational
brains behind the radio operations of the TX5K Cordell-DXpedition to
Clipperton Island in spring of 2013.
The intention of the group is not to support other DXpeditions rather
than to carry out its own ones. Besides having fun and going on DXpeditions
as the main goals, the Lagunaria DX Group also supports international
understanding, shares technical ideas with others and makes use of high
and bullet-proof technical standards.
The group members (DJ5IW, DJ7EO, DJ9RR, DL1MGB, DL3DXX, DL5CW, DL5LYM,
DL6FBL, DL8OH, DL8WPX and SP5XVY) are not only all known from a lot of
DXpeditions in the past, but also as passionate contesters of the Bavarian
Contest Club (BCC).
After several discussions in Friedrichshafen the group already started
with planning a new one. More information about this will be available
soon.
Please have a look at the homepage of the Lagunaria DX Group
<http://lagunaria-dx-group.org/> to learn more about the group and its
history and their DXpeditions."
