2U, GUERNSEY (Satellite Op!) Peter, 2E0SQL, is now active as 2U0SQL from
Guernsey (IN89RL) until July 30th. Activity will be sporadic on the satel-
lite passes. He will be focusing on FO-29 and SO-50 passes. Peter states,
"... no firm pass times, but hopefully will have internet access and will
try posting on Twitter (@2E0SQL) when I'll be on." Due that he is camping,
Peter will be battery powered using a FT-817 and a Arrow antenna. QSL via

5A, LIBYA. Abubaker, DL1AL, is now active as 5A1AL near Tripoli. Activity
so far has been on 40/30/20/6 meters CW. He informs OPDX that he will be
active on the HF bands and 6 meters using CW and SSB [at the moment for

5Q2, DENMARK. Paolo, I2AE, will be on holiday and a big radio tour as
5Q2AE from Denmark starting July 27th. He plans to activate OZFF, DEN,
WCA, IOTA and DIA reference numbers. Paolo suggests to look for him on
14244 and 7144 kHz SSB only, and possibly on 50144 and 18144 kHz. QSL

9A, CROATIA (28th EU STAR AWARD). The following is a press release from
Mato, 9A3SM: "This award is issued by the Croatian Amateur Radio Association
(HRS) to celebrate entry of the Republic of Croatia into the full membership
of European Union as 28th member. Award is issued to all licensed amateur
radio operators and SWL. Award requirements: 15 different special 9A28*
callsigns and 15 countries members of European Union on any band or mode
in period from July 1st to December 31st 2013. Log extract with evidence

JUST A REMINDER THAT THIS WEEKEND IS THE RSGB IOTA CONTEST!!!!!! Complete
details and rules are available at:

AF-083. Feco, HA8KW, will be active as 3V8SM from the club station of
the Tunisian Scouts on Jerba Island, Tunisia, between July 26th
and August 1st. Activity will be holiday style CW only, but
will include the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th), possibly
as a 12-hour CW entry. He will use 100w and wire antennas.
Jerba Island is in the Gabes/Medenine Region IOTA Group. QSL
3V8SM for this time frame only via HA8KW (HA Bureau or direct).

AS-006. Farid, VR2UNG, will be active from Hong Kong during the RSGB
IOTA Contest (July 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/

EU-020. Anders, SM0THU, will be active as SM0THU/1 from Gotland during

EU-047. German operators have once again activated the special callsign
DM50IOTA, but this time from Borkum Island between now and
July 28th. Activity will include the RSGB IOTA Contest (July

ADDED NOTES: This is the fourth German Island group activated by
DM50IOTA during the 50th IOTA Marathon. DM50IOTA will activate
all German IOTAs during that time. If you have worked DM50IOTA
from all German IOTAs by the end of 2013, you can apply for a
special award. The German team plans to activate the following
IOTAs later in the year:

EU-073. (Update/Change) Members of the Taranto ARMI section and the
599 DX Team will once again be active as IJ7T from San Pietro

the HF bands, 6 and 2 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes.
They will participate in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th).

Holy Island during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th).

cottage for a week, so they will be on the HF bands after
the IOTA contest. Some of the group are also planning to
activate Holy Island mountain as a SOTA site during the week.

EU-130. In celebration of their 65th anniversary, members of the ARI
VERONA DX TEAM will activate the Island of Santa Maria di
Barbana (IIA GO -013) during the RSGB IOTA Contest 2013 (July
27-28th). Thanks to the collaboration of Father Gianfranco,
J52OFM (one of J52EME-J52HF), they got authorization to operate
48 hours during the IOTA Contest 2013. The callsign to be used
is II3VR/IV3. Operators mentioned are Walter/I3VJW, Ampelio/
IK3JBP and Silverio/IK3IUL. Activity will be on all bands,
operating both on CW and SSB, in the category: Multi-Single/
All Mode/24 Hours. During the pre-contest and post-contest,
operators will be active for a few hours and will be operating

EU-140. Kari, OH5TS, will be active from Kuorsalo Island during the
RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-

EU-140. Members of the OH5AD group and possibly others will be active
as OG5A from Suuri-Musta Island during the RSGB IOTA Contest
(July 27-28th) as a Multi-Single/DXpedition entry. QSL via

EU-186. Last year, members of the Turkish group called TCSWAT (Special
Wireless Activity Team) activated Kefken Island (AS-159) for
the IOTA Contest. This year Gokceada Island (EU-186) will be
activated for the contest. The team will be consisting of
Metin/TA1ED, Tevfik/TA1HZ, Murat/TA1PB, Yasar/TA3D and Ali/
TA7EB. Claimed by 41.4% of participants, Gokceada lies on the
northern part of Agean Sea and is a well-known tourist des-
tination <http://www.gokceada.gov.tr/>. Their radios include
a Kenwood TS-480, Kenwood TS-570 and Yaesu FT-857D. The antennas
they will be using are a Windom 80-10m wire antenna and a
5-element Spiderbeam on top of a Gipiderbeam Al mast. Station
will be powered by a generator. The team hopes to arrive on the
Island Friday evening and will depart Sunday evening. QSL cards
will be printed at the end of December, and will be distributed
to QSL Bureaus from Messe in 2014. TCSWAT will QSLs 100%, so
please do not hurry.

NA-014. Operators Kevin/VE9MY and Linda/VE9GLF will be active as home-
call/p from Deer Island (CISA NB-005) before, during and after
the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th). Both callsigns will be
used as a Single-Op/SSB-Mode/Low-Power entries. QSL both call-

NA-050. Rick, K6VVA, will make his FOURTH attempt to activate Barter
Island. He hopes this effort from NA-050 during a predicted
propagation period will have OK condx and have at less 2
days of decent operations. Be advised there could be delays
reaching NA-050 due to local area "fog". If this re-booked
FOURTH attempt at NA-050 is a "GO", Rick will make a Twitter

Flores Island (WLOTA LH-0528, ARLHS URU-001) between August
15-18th. Their activity will coincide with the International
Lighthouse Lightship Weekend (ILLW). Activity will be on

J7, DOMINICA. Operators Gerry/WA6POZ and Terry/N0TW will be active as
J79GF and J79TW, respectively, from the Sea Cliff Cottages on the NE side
of Dominica (NA-101) between July 30th and August 7th. Both operators
will be taking IC-706's and some wire antennas, for 10, 15, and 20 meters.
They both plan to be active in the 10-10 SUMMER QSO Party on August 3-4th.
Gerry informs OPDX, "It is mainly going to be SSB, but I am bringing a
key. I don't know much about the accommodations so we plan on just to
have some hamming and do a little site seeing. QSL via their home call-

TK13, CORSICA (IOTAs Op!). Laurent, F8BBL, will be active as TK13RNB
[Radio Nature Balade] from Corsica (EU-014, DIFM TK-001, MIA MCO-001,
WLOTA 1390, DDFM 2A) between July 27th and August 10th, in the Cargese
location. Operators Michel (TK/F5OZF) and Solange (TK/F5RXL) will also
be with him. There will be daily activity, but holiday style on 80-10
meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. He will be running 100 watts
using a FT-857 into a M1 vertical antenna. During their stay, they will
also activate the following:
* Monday, August 5th: Trip to Sanguinaires Island (EU-104, DIFM TK-002,
DDFM 2A, Grid Squ. JN41HV); Callsign TK13RNB/p.

TO7, MAYOTTE (Early Announcement). Hartwig, DL7BC, will once again be
active as FH/DL7BC from Mayotte (AF-027) between March 21st and April
4th, 2014. Activity will be from Bruno's, DH1BL/FH4VOS, QTH. Operations
will be on 20-10 meters (40m possibly) plus participation in CQWW WPX
SSB Contest signing TO7BC. He will use 100 watts into a SpiderBeam. QSL

YOUTUBE VIDEO (The Amsterdam Island Expedition - 2014). Ralph Fedor,
K0IR, posted the following video on YouTube this past week, and states,
"This video describes the collective expedition adventures of the 14
men who will travel to Amsterdam Island in January of 2014. The team
is made up of 14 amateur radio operators from around the world." The

Nadia, ZS8A, will soon be active. Meanwhile, propagation and busy working
