CE0X, SAN FELIX. Mike, WU2D, announced this past week: "I am in the
process
of obtaining a Chilean licence for San Felix as I am feeling certain
that
I will be on a team to install equipment for the Navy on the island. I
just
found out today that I am a candidate for the team that will be going
over.
I do not have exact dates yet but it will likely be in mid-June 2013
coming
right up. This will be a spare time situation and I will have minimal
antennas and only an ICOM-7000 at my disposal. I am presently in
Iquique,
Chile." Mike adds that he will be able to do SSB and some CW likely
on
15, 17, and 20 meters. ADDED UPDATE: Mike, WU2D, informs OPDX that he
will
be going over on July 8th, and will be there for several days. He
states,
"If I can get permission from the Navy command, I will be able to
operate
on an ad-hoc basis. This is not a DXpedition, it is simply an
opportunity."
LAST MINUTE UPDATE BEFORE PRINT: Mike, WU2D, informs OPDX, "My
reciprocal
license was finally received from Santiago yesterday (June 21st).
Thank
you Radio Club de Chile for helping to facilitate this. CE0Z/WU2D.
Also,
CE1/WU2D for mainland. I am confirmed to go to the island on the 8th
of
July. Although I have asked, I still have no definite answer from
Navy
that I will be able to actually operate a station but I will be prepared
to do so. Keeping fingers crossed."
CP, BOLIVIA. Antonio, EA5RM, informs OPDX on June 22nd, "Hello guys,
next
month I'll be working on a NGO project in Bolivia from July 3th to
19th.
I'll be installing HF radios solar powered for medical purposes and
emergencies at Indian communities on the Maniki River and also on TIM
(Indigenous Multiethnic Territory) inside the Bolivian Amazon jungle.
I
had planned to do the maintenance to the radio stations I installed
four
years ago. I expect to be on the air as CP1XRM, but due to the very
hard
living conditions, it will be a limited radio operation. I'll use 100
watts solar powered station and vertical antenna. This project will
be
done thanks to Solidaridad Medica España NGO <http://www.solidaridadmedicacanaria.com>
and Radioamateurs without Frontiers NGO <http://www.rsf-rwf.org>.
CY0, SABLE ISLAND. Murray, WA4DAN, provides OPDX with the latest info
on
the upcoming CY0P operation [edited]: "The CY0P DXpedition team is
pleased
to announce that our Web site is up and operational. This site should
be familiar as it is the same as we have used on the previous Sable
DXpeditions. <www.cy0dxpedition.com>
Updates will be posted as needed. The team just purchased a large
quantity of freeze-dried meals for the DXpedition. In addition, the
team
added a new, five-element 10-meter yagi to the antenna inventory.
This
antenna will be assembled and tested before shipment to Halifax, Nova
Scotia. The team is making a strong commitment to working as many
Asian
and Pacific area DX'ers as possible..... Thanks, CY0P DXpedition
Team"
The following is from the CY0P Web page [edited]: "CY0 News Release
-
June 2013 - Operators Gary/VE1RGB, Rick/AI5P and Murray/WA4DAN, are
pleased
to announce a DXpedition to Sable Island from October 1st - October
11th,
2013. Approvals are in hand from Parks Canada and the Canadian Coast
Guard.
We have chartered with Maritime Air Charter LTD to provide the
Britten
Norman Islander aircraft for landing on the beach. The call CY0P has
been
issued for the October DXpedition. The CY0P (Parks) call was chosen
in
recognition of one of the newest National Parks in Canada. VE1RGB is
a
veteran of two previous CY0 DXpeditions and is a top CW contester.
AI5P
has operated from over 70 DXCC countries and is a CW op. WA4DAN has
coordinated two previous CY0 DXpeditions, including the October 2012
DXpedition that was cut short due to Hurricane Sandy. An all-band,
160-10
meter, CW/SSB/RTTY operation is planned. Monoband yagi antennas are
planned
for 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20 meters. Currently, we are assembling and
testing
the monoband yagi antennas. When the testing is completed, the yagi
antennas will be packed and shipped to Gary in the Halifax, NS area.
More
details to follow in the coming weeks."
H44, SOLOMON ISLANDS (Update/Change/IOTA Op). On June 19th, the
following
was posted on the H44IOTA Web page: "As you are all aware the H44IOTA
DXpedition has suffered significant delays due to weather conditions
and
boat maintenance.
The weather looks to be offering a good window for our next leg to
OC-158
now and all maintenance has been completed, however, such delays have
taken
their toll on the team.
Both Dom (SQ9KWW) and Tom (WL7HP) cannot risk possible future delays
(they have jobs to get back to on time), so unfortunately they will
not
be continuing on our journey. Maggie (H44MK) also will remain in
Honiara
as her family and church commitments are currently placing demands on
her.
Consequently we will now have to omit the activation of OC-285. All
other planned activations will continue.
Ralph (5W0W/H44RK) and Penny will now re-stock and re-fuel to be
ready
for their departure to Roderick Bay in the Florida Islands (OC-158)
on
the 21st of June and anticipate being active on the 23rd.
Please bear in mind Ralph will be the only operator from this point
on,
and he will need to sleep and eat occasionally; therefore, he will not
be
on air 24/7. However, he will be on air several hours a day, determined
by
propagation.
Weather conditions will determine the duration and timing of this
activation and all others. We understand that this is an
inconvenience;
however, safety is our most important consideration."
HAFF/WWFF SUMMER TOUR. Operators Geza/HA8DD and Zsolt/HA8FY will
activate
6 Hungarian HAFF areas as homecall/p during early July. Their schedule
is
as follows:
July 8th - Kesznyeteni TK (HAFF-025) from about 1300z to late
evening
hours.
July 9th - Zempléni TK (HAFF-047) from early morning to midday
(1000z).
- Bukki NP (HAFF-002) from midday until late evening.
July 10th - Borsod Mezosege TK (HAFF-014) from morning hours until
midday (1000z).

July 11th - Hortobagy NP (HAFF-006) from the morning hours until

S2, BANGLADESH (Project 2013by MDXC - Press Release #1). The
Mediterraneo
DX Club (MDXC) announced on Monday, June 17th [edited]: "As usual the
MDXC's guys are working hard to give a good surprise to the
international
community of DXers and IOTA chasers. This time, the team leader
Antonio,
IZ8CCW, and the team co-leader, Gabriele, I2VGW, with the help of
S21AM,
are in a pole position to put on a new ambitious project: a
DXpedition
in Bangladesh and the real possibility to establish a real
cooperation
with the local hams to assist them in any needs and improve their
knowledge
and skill in the amateur radio world. The target will be once again the
same
reached, with great media emphasis and success, as in Brunei last
year:
a coordinate partnership with the local ham radio.
As a matter of fact the next DXpedition by Mediterraneo DX Club is
going
on in the best of the way. The team is formed by 20-22 operators from
9
countries. They are going to stay on air for ten days with the usual
antennas farm for all bands/modes with 4x Icom 7000, 2x elecraft k2,
1x
Icom 7200 and 4x amplifiers. The exact dates are November 19-29th,
2013.
More information will be forthcoming soon, and soon will be a dedicated
Web
site online. Of course any donation for sponsorship for this new
project

XR0, JUAN FERNANDEZ (Press Release/Update #1) [edited]. "There has
been
a change to the team. Unfortunately, our friend and teammate Dino,
CE3PG,
is unable to go. In his place, Ron, PA3EWP, has been selected. Ron is
a
seasoned veteran of many DXpeditions throughout the world and is a
terrific
addition to our team. The XR0ZR team would like to welcome Ron on
board
and extend our thanks to Dino for the valuable contribution he has
made
to the organization DXpedition.
Fundraising has begun to pay for some of our expenses. For those
Associations, Clubs, and individuals who have been so generous in
donating
funds for our DXpedition, we want to express our deepest gratitude.
To get on and off XR0ZR, it was necessary to secure a private
aircraft
which you can imagine is very costly. This is one of many reasons we
continue to ask you to consider donating to our DXpedition. This can
be
done easily by using PayPal on our Web site. We want to thank in
advance
those who will help us realize this adventure.... 73 XR0ZR Team"
