16/08/2013: The Lagan Valley ARS (GI4GTY) will be active as GB0REL from the
East Lighthouse (ILLW UK-0055, ARLHS NTI-011, BARLS A6062, TWLHD WLH GI-001,
WLOTA 0039) on Rathlin Island (EU-122), Northern Ireland, from 16-18 August,

16/08/2013: Bela, HA9SU/p and Lali, HA9CM/p will be active from the Tarnavideki
TK Biosphere Reserve Area (WWFF HAFF-044) from about 1100-1200 UTC 16th August
until 0500 UTC 17th August, 2013. "The QTH will be in the middle of the forest,
so we hope, not be problem with propagation! We will QRV over (local) night for
DX stations. RIG: JST-245, ant. 5 Band GP. (but our portable antenna work only
on 40/20m with good SWR). Maybe separate dipole for 15m. QSL via home calls.

16/08/2013: Greenland YL Expedition 2013 will take place from 16-20th August
2013 from the Club and Contest station, in Kangerlussuaq (aka Sonderstrom),
Greenland (NA-018, WLOTA 0072, WWFF OZFF-006, WW Loc. GP47PA). The team will be
QRV on all HF bands and modes, using the callsign OX5YL. Team members include

16/08/2013: Members from the Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society (AHARS), will
be travelling to Kangaroo Island (OC-139, WW Loc. PF94BD) from 16-20th August,
2013. They will be active as VK5CWL (Cape Willoughby Lighthouse - ILLW AU-0095,
WLOTA 0869, Admiralty K 2112) over the International Lighthouse/Lightship
Weekend (ILLW) weekend. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and PSK.

17/08/2013: This year the Radio Society of Sri Lanka's annual activity during
the International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend (17-18 August) will take place
from Dondra Head Lighthouse (ILLW LK-0001, ARLHS SLI-001, WLOTA 0762), on the
extreme southern tip of the main island (AS-003). Look for 4S7LGT to be QRV on

17/08/2013: Members of Grupo DX Gran Canaria and URE Las Palmas will be active
on 17th and 18th August as AO8LH from the lighthouse Punta de la Aldea (FEA

(AF-004, DIE S-005, DME 35020) on all HF bands (CW, SSB and RTTY). QSL via

17/08/2013: The Associacao de Radioamadores da Vila de Moscavide will be active
as CS2HNI from within the premises of the lighthouse at Forte do Cavalo (DFP

Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend 2013 (17-18 August). QRV on 40-10 metre SSB. QSL

17/08/2013: A group of operators from ARI Genova (IQ1GE) will be active as II1L

17/08/2013: Francois ON4LO/p will be active on 17th and 18th August from the
Antwerp Marina Harbour lighthouse (ARLHS BEL-042). Activity will be on 80-10

17/08/2013: Dieter, DF2SD, will activate the island of Fano (EU-125, DIA

18/08/2013: Guy, VA2WT/p, will attempt a first time activation of La Mauricie
National Park (WWFF VEFF-047), Province of Quebec, on 18th or 19th August, 2013
(weather dependent). He will run 100 watts, CW and SSB, to mobile vertical
antenna. Frequencies - CW: 10.124, 14.044, 18.094, 21.044 MHz and 50.110 MHz +/-
QRM if the band opens. Some SSB: 14.244 and 21.244 MHz (+/-). Guy will be
located at the highest point between Lake Brodeur and Lake Wapizagonke (WW Loc.

20/08/2013: The Grupo DX Caracas has plans be active as YW5X from Isla La

21/08/2013: Look for Rich, KE1B and Ann, W6NN to be active as 9H3MMM and 9H3NN,
respectively, from the island of Gozo (EU-023, MIA MM-004, WLOTA 0046) from
21-16 August 2013. Operation will be holiday style on 40-10m (including WARC),
CW/SSB/RTTY, using 100W and Buddipole antenna system. QSL via home calls. All

22/08/2013: Tomas, VK2CCC, plans a spare time activation of Lord Howe Island

23/08/2013: Hans, ON6ZK, will be active holiday style as SV5/ON6ZK/p from the
island of Kos (EU-001, GIOTA DKS-043, MIA MGD-016, WLOTA 1730) from 23-30

50 Watts to a fishstick pole as a 1/4 vertical from the hotel balcony. QSL

07/09/2013: The Delta Amateur Radio Society will celebrate the restoration of
the Harris Barn in Delta, BC, on 7th and 8th September 2013 with multiple

mainly SSB, using FT-100, PS 30SW, DX-Wire and MC 60. QSL via home call, direct

17/11/2013: Operators Wlodek SP6EQZ, Wojciech SP9PT, Bogdan SP2EBG, Jan SP3CYY,
Jurek SP3GEM, Janusz SP6IXF and Roman SP9FOW will be active as J88HL from St.
Vincent & Grenadines (NA-109, WLOTA 0492, Grid Loc. FK93) between 17-29
November, 2013. QRV on 160-6 metre CW, SSB and RTTY. Plans are to keep at least
three stations running 24 hours a day. Each one with a power amplifier. They
will be studying and observing propagation forecasts, bands openings etc. The
team will have all operating positions connected to the computer network and to
upload their logs to the ClubLog almost in real time. On 6 metres they will be
using 4 el Yagi and 100W and will be looking for openings. QSL manager is TBD.

use the callsign VP2MMM. Look for some before and after contest activity on the

21/05/2014: Dave, WJ2O, plans to be active from the island of Bonaire (SA-006,

16/08/2013: Special callsign OM150MS celebrates the 150th anniversary of Matica

E44PM in late August. He will be using his K2/100 and wire verticals. Logs will
be uploaded daily both onto LoTW and ClubLog. QSL via LoTW preferred, also

INTERNATIONAL LIGHTHOUSE LIGHTSHIP WEEKEND -
An annual amateur radio weekend event.
CONDUCTED UNDER THE SPONSORSHIP OF THE AYR AMATEUR RADIO GROUP, SCOTLAND.
This year's event: 17-18 August - Duration 48 hours from 0001 UTC 17.8.2013
This annual amateur radio event was started in Scotland by John Forsyth,
GM4OOU, and the late Mike Dalrymple (GM4SUC), both members of Ayr Amateur Radio
Group (AARG). Through the years the event has grown probably far beyond what
John and Mike envisaged for it all those years ago. The fact that some 85
countries have been represented in this event since inception clearly shows that
it is well on its way to becoming a premier event on the ham radio calendar.
The event evolved from the Scottish Northern Lighthouses Award Weekend
(illw.net/lighthouse-nlaward.htm) a biennial event which was first held in 1993
and became the ILLW in 1998. For the history of the event see

1998 list by Bob Dixon, GM3ZDH. Over the years it has continued to grow and to
date more than 450 lighthouses and Lightships in some 50 countries around the
world are participating in the event each year.
WARNING -
It has come to our notice that there is confusing information on certain
other web sites relating to the timing and duration of a similarly titled event.
The ILLW is and always has been held on the third full weekend in August since
inception in 1995. It is NOT a contest nor does it run for a week. If you have
received email soliciting your participation in an week long contest purporting
to be the ILLW, please be advised that it did not originate from the Ayr Group
or anyone associated with the ILLW. Some of these other web sites are also
claiming that another amateur radio organisation combined with the Ayr Group to
create the ILLW. This is also untrue as the Ayr Group is not and never has been
associated with any other group. Please see the page on this site regarding the
history of the ILLW.
EDITOR'S NOTE -
Please respect the various lighthouse awards and reference numbers offered by
DXCC country specific clubs and organizations. Each has its own rules and
reference numbering system. There is no one "official" lighthouse list. Perhaps
"The Admiralty List of Lighthouses"??? Even the governments of every country in
the world have their own list of lighthouses and reference numbers - England and
the U.K.'s "Admiralty" references, world-wide "NGA" references, Canada's
"Notmar" - "Canadian Coast Guard" references, USA's "Coast Guard" references,
and the list goes on. Focus on just having fun with our hobby, making contacts
with lighthouse activators and working towards the various award programs. All
International Lighthouse - Lightship Weekend (ILLW) reference numbers can be
converted to each individual lighthouse award program that you are working
towards.
PURPOSE -
The basic objective of the event is to promote public awareness of
lighthouses and lightships and their need for preservation and restoration, and
at the same time to promote amateur radio and to foster International goodwill.
Lighthouses are fast becoming an endagered species with the introduction of
Global Positioning Systems and Satellite Navigation and the automation of the
light source to solar power which has resulted in the withdrawal of mangement
personnel (Keepers). It is hoped that this event will highlight this situation
and help prevent further desecration of these magnificent structures all around
the world.
