Did you know? Here’s a space weather and radio propagation educational tidbit – from http://SunSpotWatch.com – at 14:00 UTC on 2017-03-30:
Sunspots are associated with strong solar magnetic fields, from inside the Sun. A strong magnetic field within a sunspot may approach 0.4 tesla, or about 4000 gammas. The sunspot magnetic field is approximately 6 to 7 percent of the total strength of our Earth’s magnetic field.
A sunspot field is approximately six (6) to seven (7) percent of the total strength of our Earth’s magnetic field. Sunspot groups contain many individual sunspots, often with many individual intertwined magnetic fields. The magnetic structures of sunspots within groups interact in complex, powerful ways.
