5T     - Jean, 5T0JL (ON8RA) will be active  as  5T0ITU  during  ITU  events
         such as the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (to be  held  in  Busan,
         South Korea on 20 October-7 November) and ITU Telecom World (to  be
         held in Doha, Qatar on 7-10 December).  The  special  callsign  was
         granted on 19 August and is valid for  one  year.  QSL  via  ON8RA:

9A     - Ede  HA5BWW,  Pista  HA5AUC  and  Karl  HA7PC  will  be  active  as
         9A/homecall from Rab Island (EU-136) on 22-29 September. They  will

9M     - Thirteen main stations, one for each Malaysian State, are  expected
         to be active during the  National  Field  Day  on  15-16  September
         (http://fieldday.marl.org.my/). DXCC wise, eleven will  be  located
         on West Malaysia  (9M51AP,  9M51CP,  9M51DG,9M51JB,  9M51KK,9M51MM,
         9M51NS, 9M51PP,  9M51RP,  9M51TR  and  9M51WS),  and  two  on  East
         Malaysia, namely 9M51GW from Sarawak and  9M51SB  from  Sabah.  The
         special prefix is in celebration of the  51th  anniversary  of  the
         establishment of the Malaysian Federation. [TNX The Daily DX]
9N     - Joel, F3CJ  (http://f3cjnepal.wordpress.com/)  will  be  active  as
         9N7CJ  (requested  callsign)  from  Kathmandu,  Nepal  between   24
         September and 4 November. He plans to operate  SSB  on  20  and  17
         metres (14200 and 18130 kHz). On 7-23 October he will  be  off  the
         air while trekking in the Manaslu region. QSL via F3CJ. [TNX F6AJA]
A2     - Jim, N6TQ as A25TQ and Frosty, K5BLU as A25CF will be  active  from
         Botswana on 11-18 September.  "We  have  some  antenna  repairs  to
         complete first and then, propagation permitting, we'll  be  on  all
         bands 160-6m as much as we can", Jim says. QSL via home calls.
C5     - Steve G3VMW, Alan G3XAQ, Mark M0DXR and Iain M0PCB will  be  active
         as C5X from the old MW Radio Syd site, near Banjul  in  Gambia,  on
         15-26 January 2015. They  plan  to  have  two  high-power  stations
         operating CW, SSB, RTTY and some PSK on 160-10 metres.  There  will
         be some activity in the CQWW 160m Contest. QSL  via  M0OXO,  direct

E3     - Zorro, JH1AJT  "will  have  more  than  30  meetings  with  various
         Eritrean authorities during his eight-day stay in  Asmara"  [425DXN
         1217], and his activity on the amateur radio bands is likely to  be
         mostly nighttime. He will arrive on 15  September  at  03:15  local
         time (UTC +3), and will be very busy on  the  16-19th,  with  "very
         little chance for QRV". On the  20th  and  the  21st,  however,  he
         might be active for "about 20 hours max". He will shout down on  22

F      - Commemorating the 89th anniversary  of  the  International  Amateur
         Radio Union (IARU), special callsign TM89IARU  will  be  active  on
         13-17 and 20-29 September. [TNX DX Coffee]
FR     - Stephane, F5UOW will be active  as  FR/F5UOW  from  Reunion  Island
         (AF-016) from 29 October to 20 November. He will operate mainly  CW
         with some SSB  and  RTTY.  QSL  via  home  call.  Alain,  F8FUA  is

HB0    - Uwe, DL4AAE and Roman, DL3TU will be  active  again  as  HB0/DL4AAE
         and  HB0/DL3TU  from  Liechtenstein  during  the  second  half   of
         September or early October (see http://dl3tu.darc.de/).  They  plan
         to operate CW only from the Augstenberg summit (2359m a.s.l.),  and
         to be QRV on the higher bands with an emphasis on Asia. All of  the
         QSOs will be confirmed  automatically  via  the  bureau  and  LoTW;

I      - The Calabria DX Team  (www.calabriadxteam.it)  will  be  active  as
         IE9/IQ8QX from Ustica Island (EU-051) and a couple  of  lighthouses
         on 2-5  October.  The  operators  will  be  Alex  IK8YFU,  Domenico
         IW8RAO, Salvo IZ8CZR, Maurizio IZ8SJA and Nicola  IZ8SKO.  QSL  via

ON     - Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation  of  the  city
         of Farciennes, UBA Section CPN (Charleroi Pays Noir)  will  operate
         CW, SSB and PSK31 as OT703CCF on 20-21 September. QSL  via  ON4CPN.

OJ0    - Pasi, OH3WS will be active as OJ0W from  Market  Reef  (EU-053)  on
         13-20 September (actual dates will depend on  weather  conditions).
         He will be QRV in his spare time on 40-10 metres.  QSL  via  OH3WS,

OZ     - Once again Bernd, DL8AAV will be active as OZ0AV from Laeso  Island
         (EU-088) on 15-27 September. He ususally operates SSB on 40 and  20

PA     - The history of rail  transport  in  the  Netherlands  began  on  20
         September 1839, when the  first  train  made  the  16km  trip  from
         Amsterdam to Haarlem. Celebrating the  175th  anniversary  of  that
         event, the Kanaalstreek  Radio  Club  will  be  active  as  PA175RR
         between 15 September and 12 October. QSL via PI4KST. [TNX PC7A]
PA     - Look for PA/DK1AW, PA/DL2AMT, PA/DL3ARK,  PA/DL4AMK  and  PA/DL5ASE
         to be active from Texel Island (EU-038) on  19-26  September.  They
         will operate SSB, CW, RTTY and BPSK on 160-10 metres. QSL via  home

PJ7    - Phil, WA1ZAM will be active as PJ7PL  from  Sint  Maarten  (NA-105)
         from 21 September to 15 October. He will participate in the  CQ  WW
         DX RTTY Contest; outside  the  contest  activity  will  be  holiday
         style using SSB, RTTY and possibly CW.  QSL  via  home  call.  [TNX

S7     - Christian,  HB9LCA   is   currently   active  as  S79LCA  from  the
         Seychelles. He will be on Mahe until 14 Septembr, then  on  Praslin
         on 15-21 September and finally  on  La  Digue  on  22-27  September
         (they all count for IOTA AF-024). He operates  mainly  CW  on  40-6
         metres. QSL via home call, bureau preferred.
SM     - Look for Fred,  SM7DAY/p  to  be  QRV  again  from  Senoren  Island
         (EU-138) on 13-20 September. He will operate CW and SSB on  the  HF

SV5    - Fred, PA1FJ will be  active  as  SV5/PA1FJ/p  from  the  island  of
         Karpathos (EU-001), Dodecanese on 18-27 September. He will  operate
         SSB, CW and digital modes. QSL via  home  call,  bureau  preferred.

TK     - Paul, G4BKI (VP9KF) will be active from  Corsica  (JN42qb)  from  6
         October to 16 March 2015. For the first 90 day he will  be  signing
         TK/G4BKI, after that he  hopes  to  get  a  TK  callsign.  He  will
         operate CW only. QSL direct only to Paul Evans,  6809  River  Road,

TY     - Silvano, I2YSB and his team will be active as TY1AA from  Benin  on
         11-26 September. Suggested frequencies are:

         SSB   -   3780 7103   -   14270 18155 21310 24975 28420 50123 kHz
         RTTY  -    -    -     -   14087   -     -     -     -     -   kHz

UA     - The Russian Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place in Sochi on  10-12
         October. Representing the 11 racing teams,  the  following  special
         callsigns will be active on all bands and modes from  15  September
         to 15 October: UE16CT,  UE16IR,  UE16LT,  UE16MM,  UE16MP,  UE16MT,
         UE16SA, UE16SF, UE16SR, UE16ST and  UE16WR,  plus  UE16HQ.  Further
         information on the event and the relevant award  can  be  found  at

V6     - JH3AZC (V63AZ), JR3GWZ (V63GW) and JH3QFL  (V60O)  will  be  active
         from Pohnpei Island (OC-010), Micronesia  on  10-14  October.  They
         will operate SSB, CW and RTTY on 80-6 metres; JH3AZC will  also  be
         QRV on 2m EME as V60EME. QSL via home calls. [TNX JH3QFL]
V6     - Sho, JA7HMZ and Nak, JA7ZP will be active as V63DX and  V63ZP  from
         Pohnpei (OC-010),  Micronesia  from  28  November  to  4  December.
         During the CQ WW DX CW Contest look  for  V63ZP  as  a  single-band
         entrant, while Sho will be on  all  bands  as  V6A.  QSL  via  home

VQ9    - Bob, N7XR was expected to be active  as  VQ9XR  from  Diego  Garcia
         (AF-006), Chagos  Archipelago for three weeks between  late  August
         and early September [425DXN 1213]. He says that the  operation  has
         been delayed "for 30 to 60 days",  and  that  "October  2014  looks

W      - A group of operators from Red Stick DX Association will  be  active
         as W5GIX from Grand Isle  (NA-168)  on  10-12  October.  They  will
         operate CW and SSB,  and  possibly  some  digital.  QSL  direct  to

MASCARENE ISLANDS TRIP ---> Diego, F4HAU will be  active  holiday  style  as
FR/F4HAU from from  Reunion  Island  (AF-016)  on  9-12  and  18-24 October,
while on  13-17 October he will be QRV  as  3B9/F4HAU  from Rodrigues Island
(AF-017). He will operate  SSB  on 40-10 metres. QSLs via home call. [TNX DX

XR2T ---> The website  for  the  8-12  October  operation  from  Isla  Damas
(SA-086) [425DXN 1217] is now up  and  running  at  www.xr2t.cl.  CE3OP  and
other eight operators (CA2JEG, CE1DY, CE3KHZ, CE3RBJ, CE4KCA, CE5PHI,  XQ1KZ
and XQ4CW) will operate CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK/JT65 on 80-10 metres. QSL  via
CE3OP, direct or bureau.

QSL RI0F ---> The June 2014 operation from IOTA Group AS-062  has  a  second
QSL manager: Alex  RU0LM  will  handle  requests  (direct  and  bureau,  his
address is correct on qrz.com) coming  from  Asia,  while  Serge  RX3F  will

QSL YB8RW ---> Din, YB8RW is uploading his logs to  Club  Log  and  enabling
the OQRS. The logs for 18 different activities between  13  February  and  8
August 2014 have been uploaded so  far:  logsearch  is  not  intuitive,  but
instructions can be found at http://www.qrz.com/db/yb8rw

TX5B, TX5C & TX5E ---> FK8IK's  November  expedition  to  the  Chesterfields
(TX5C), D'Entrecasteaux (TX5E) and Belep Islands (TX5B)  [425DXN  1205]  has
been postponed "because  the  sailboat  is  no  longer  available  on  these

W1AW WAS ---> Look for ARRL Centennial stations W1AW/4 from  North  Carolina
and W1AW/1 from Connecticut to be on the air starting at  00.00  UTC  on  17
September until 23.59 UTC on the 23rd.  Complete  information  on  the  ARRL
Centennial QSO Party can be found at www.arrl.org/centennial-qso-party.

+ SILENT KEY + One of the  doyens  of  amateur  radio  in  Italy,  Giancarlo
"Chas" Martelli (I0XXR, ex I1PL) passed away on 2 September at 94  years  of
age. A FOC (First Class CW Operators' Club) member, he got hooked  on  radio
some seventy years ago.
