CHESTERFIELD ISLANDS 2015 --->  The  Perseverance  DX  Group  has  announced
their  intention  to  conduct  a  DXpedition  to  the  Chesterfield  Islands
(OC-176)  later  in  2015.  The  expedition  yacht  "Evohe"    will  provide
transportation from Noumea, New Caledonia. Subject to licensing and  landing
formalities, it is expected a team of up to 12  operators  will  be  on  the
island for up to 12  days.  Team  members  committed  or  considering  their
participation include: Pista HA5AO, Les W2LK,  Heye  DJ9RR,  Norbert  DJ7JC,
Mike WA6O and Gene K5GS. Additional team members will  be  added  throughout
the  planning  phase.  A  website  is  under  construction.   Please  direct
questions to Gene K5GS or Pista HA5AO at  their  e-mail  address  listed  on
qrz.com. [TNX K5GS]

E30FB ---> Zorro,  JH1AJT  went  QRT  from  Eritrea  around  18  UTC  on  22
September, after 4200+ QSOs and a few problems (his  amplifier  failed,  and
he also had "PC interface and keying trouble"). The OQRS  on  Club  Log  was
enabled on 25 September, and the log is being uploaded to LoTW.

FT4TA ---> The latest and last press release ("One  more  thing...")  before
the team  leaves  for  Tromelin  can  be  read  on  the  expedition  website
www.tromelin2014.com. "Initially, we will seek to  maximize  the  number  of
contacts to give everyone a chance whatever  their  geographical  position",
which means that FT4TA will be active "quite  often  on  the  most  prolific
bands". Their second priority will be "activity on the low bands,  with  all
the difficulties that it generates". The logs will be uploaded to  Club  Log
on a daily basis; the leaderboard will not be  activated  and  "neither  the
pilots, nor the  QSL  Manager  will  have  access  to  the  log  during  the
operation".
A special postage stamp, celebrating  the  60th  anniversary  of  the  first
amateur radio activity from Tromelin, will be used for all direct, OQRS  and
donor cards. The envelopes will be then postmarked and mailed by  the  TAAF;
the process might take some time, but at the end of the day  you  will  have
your FT4TA QSL card and a Tromelin philatelic cover.

IARU REGION 1 EC ---> The new IARU Region  1  Executive  Committee,  elected
during the Final Plenary  of  the  23rd  General  Conference,  includes  Don

QSL CO6CG ---> Direct cards  should  be  sent  to  G3OCA  (Ken  Frankcom,  1
Chesterton Road, Spondon, Derby, DE21 7EN,  United  Kingdom).  Do  not  send
cards  via  the  bureau,   Ken    says,    but    request    them  by  email
(g3oca1[@]ntlworld.com). Ken offers his services to other operators  wanting
a QSL manager.

RSGB IOTA - THE FUTURE ---> This  year  marks  the  Golden  Jubilee  of  the
Islands on the Air (IOTA) as a premier DX  programme.  "Those  close  to  it
have been anxious to ensure the sustainability of the  IOTA  programme  over
the next 50 years and have spent some  time  reviewing  the  challenges  and
opportunities it faces", RSGB's President John Gould  (G3WKL)  writes  in  a
document that outlines the future of IOTA. "A number  of  issues  have  been
identified: firstly, the heavy reliance of the programme on just a  few  key
people; secondly, the need to ensure that IT support for  the  programme  is
modern and robust and will include online island credit submission  akin  to
LoTW; and thirdly, a  requirement  for  a  friendlier  and  more  accessible
website which will be  of  greater  use  to  both  newcomers  and  the  more
experienced  island    chaser".    The    document    can    be    found  at
http://rsgb.org/main/blog/uncategorized/2014/09/24/rsgb-iota-programme/

Complete information on the ARRL  Centennial  QSO  Party  can  be  found  at
www.arrl.org/centennial-qso-party.

VK0EK: HEARD ISLAND 2015 ---> The VK0EK expedition to  Heard  Island  has  a
new vessel (the "(Akademik Shokalskiy)") and a new itinerary, and  has  been
advanced to November-December  2015.  The  voyage  from  Fremantle  (Western
Australia) to Heard and back will take about 14 days, with 21  days  on  the
island. "In summary, we believe we now have all the core elements  in  place
for the expedition,  and  have  moved  from  the  planning  phase  into  the
preparation phase". Read the latest information on www.vk0ek.org.
