Scout Island Cal City- The Cal City Amateur Ham Radio Operators in conjunction with the ARRL hosted their once a year annual 'Field Day' in which a staggering 35,000 Ham Radio Clubs across America and Canada all participate in a weekend of transmission competition. They spend an entire weekend transmitting to other ham radio operators across the world and even in space in a once a year challenge. The FCC licensed operators come together to see who can transmit the most in that time period. The Cal City Amateur Ham Radio Club (www.KE6RN.com) and the ARRL hosted their "Field Day' at Scout Island in Central Park. Originally scheduled to include the local Boy Scout Troop, however they were away on another mission. The group transmitted all weekend long reaching all across the globe and even to the International Space Station.
