When Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association founder George Uebele (WW7E) died on Dec. 5, 2016, he left behind a room crammed with HAM radio equipment and books. His widow, fellow founding member Dorothy Uebele (N7MXA) was overwhelmed by the prospect of sorting through it all, so she called association members to help her. Both Uebeles served on the board and produced the monthly newsletter. They also maintained the club's repeater. Until he died, Uebele, who was also an R-C weather watcher, continued to answer the VHF Net roll call every Tuesday evening. Jeff Cauhape (K7BCV), Jim Marshall (K6LR), and Mel Hogan (WE6ERD) soon stepped in to help Dorothy with the daunting task at hand. Cauhape and Dorothy spent hours just sifting through George's bookshelf, finally paring it down to a few boxes of books that are now available for borrowing from the SIERA library.
