C5, The Gambia:
Pedro, ON7WP (C5WP), and Andre, ON7YK (C5YK), will most likely be
the only operators holding permanent licenses in The Gambia in
2014. Pedro plans to get on the air from the 11th to the 15th from
the village Buntu where he does volunteer work in a social project.
His rig consists of a 100W transceiver, a spiderbeam, and
V-antennas towards USA and Europe. This is an off-grid location
with presumably good rx conditions on the low bands. Pedro then
moves to Kololi and operate from the 16th to the 22nd. For qsl info

C6, Bahamas:
Tim, AF1G, lives and works on Andros Island until November 20 and
operates as AF1G/C6A. QRV on 80-6m in SSB. QSL direct via h/c,

C9, Mozambique:
Karel, ZS6ALB, has moved to Matola in Mozambique and holds the
calls C91KHN and C91C (for contests). QRV from the 13th onwards on

CX, Uruguay:
The Radiogrupo Sur is celebrating its 30th anniversary on the air
with the calls CW30A and CV3D all year long. QSL only direct via

DL, Germany:
DR175LDE celebrates the opening of the railway between Leipzig and
Dresden (120km) in 1839. The inaugural journey was made by the
English engine Comet, closely followed by the german Saxonia of
which a working replica was built in 1989. DR175LDE, DK0EFA and
DL0EFD have been assigned the special DOK 175LDE for April 2014.

Justin, EI3CTB, will be operating as EI30T all year long, thereby

HP1, Panama:
Members of the Radio Club de Panama (HP1RCP) are celebrating Cam's
(HP1AC) 55th year on the air with the call HP1A until September 30.

JA, Japan:
8J3ZUKA draws attention to a triple jubilee concering the city
Takarazuka. They are celebrating 100 years of the local musical
theatre group Takarazuka Revue, 60 years of the city Takarazuka,
and the 20th anniversary of the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum. QRV on

8J9OKB will be active on the air until the 28th of February to
encourage interested parties to obtain an amateur radio license.
The suffix OKB is an acronym made up of O (Otoku - saving money), K

the life of a fellow inmate in the Auschwitz concentration camp

Rumanian revolution during the end of 1989 which began in Timisoara

Silent Key:
Max de Henseler, HB9RS, founder and president emeritus of 4U1UN
died on December 30 aged 80. He was instrumental in reactivating
the UN Club Station K2UN in 1976 and introduced the new call in
1978. During his career with the UN he was active as 3D2RS, 5W1BK,
9Y4RS, DJ0AB, EL2DX, ET3RS, FO0RSM, HP1HN, and XW8HB. 4U1UN was
completely dismantled in 2010 for general reconstruction work.
Efforts are underway to get the station on the air again, possibly
as a remotely controlled setup.

Furthermore, Hans Rexin, DJ6QP, Miloslav Bartos, OM3FZ, and Jerry
Pittenger, K8RA, passed away recently.

Our thoughts are with their families and friends. We are sorry
for their loss.
