Island activities:
AF-019. (Update) Dan, S50U, reports,
"On Thursday night strong winds caused by Gonzalo hurricane destroyed almost all antennas at IO9Y M/M Lampedusa Contest Team station. There will be only sporadic operation from IG9/CALL stations in low-power category during CQWW SSB contest. All transportations from the Island are canceled because of bad weather and team will return home when ferries start to run."
AS-072. Members of the 9M2SE Malaysian Special Expedition Team will be active from Pangkor Island between 0800z, November 7th and 0100z, November 9th. They will have 2 transceivers with 100 watts on the air using 2 element 3 bands yagi (20/15/10m), EFHW vertical (40-10m) and G5RV junior (40-10m). Piju informs OPDX,"Please support our activity. We are promoting our country, heritage, culture, beautiful islands and beaches to the world.
Malaysia has many beautiful beaches and islands, lots of city excitement, nature and adventure, also cultural attractions.
It is time to explore Malaysia. Spread the words."
EU-025. The II9K Contest Team will once again be active as II9K from
Sicily Island during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-2 entry. Operators mentioned are Giuseppe/IT9HBT, Girolamo/IT9GNG, Rino/IT9FXY, Vincenzo/IT9ECQ, Sal/IW9FRA, Mike/IF9ZWA, Domenico/IW9GTD, Salvatore/DH7SA and Josep/EA3KS.

Look for operators to use their own callsigns outside of the
contest as SV8/homecall. QSL via their home callsigns.
IOTA and Crimea - "IOTA Management has decided that, given the unresolved political situation in Crimea, it has no course open to it
except, for a period initially of one year, to freeze certain actions connected with Crimea that it would normally take in the routine management of the IOTA programme. This means that it will not accept or issue credit for EU-180 operations taking place after 17 March 2014 that use a non-Ukrainian callsign, or accede to any requests from programme participants for update of their records or changes of callsign and/or checkpoint that involve a change of DXCC entity. The Committee will review the situation after one year in the light of developments. IOTA Management regrets taking this action but it accords with
practice adopted elsewhere..... G3KMA, 21 Oct 2014"
SA-024. Operators Marcelo/PY2AE, Murilo/PY2DS, João/PU2KKE, Willian/
PU2XIZ and Fábio/PU2KFL will be active as ZX2CA from Cardoso Island (DIB SP-07), and as PW2BA from Bom Abrigo Island and Lighthouse (ARLHS-BRA-013, DIB-SP-05, DFB-SP-03) between November 21-24th. Activity will be on 80/40/20/15/10/6/2 meters using CW and SSB.
