5H, Tanzania:
Bodo (DF8DX) will be QRV between the 20th and 28th of April as
5H1DX. His itinerary includes visits to three islands:
Bongoyo Island AF-075 5H1DX/3
Pemba Island AF-063, WLOTA 1437 5H1DX
Zanzibar AF-032 5H1DX
Activity covers all bands 160-10m, mainly
CW plus EME on 70cm and 23cm (JT65, CW). QSL via h/c.

6O, Somalia:
As a member of the UNODC-mission in Kenia Roger (LA4GHA) has been
active from Nairobi as 5Z4/LA4GHA. He has now received a operating
license for his trips to Somalia as 6O0LA. QTH is Garowe (LJ48fi),
where Roger is active during his free time on bands 160-6m in CW,
SSB, and digital modes. QSL via h/c, LotW.

CX, Uruguay:
"Radiogrupo Spur" participates in the International Marconi Day
(IMD) as CW1GM. QSL via CX2ABC, direct only.

DL, Germany:
Borkum Island sees DA0IMD as part of the IMD activities with 3 Ops.
One of their stations will be dedicated to VHF. QSL via DL1BFE.

EA, Spain:
The coastal radio station Finisterre will be put on air as AO0IMD
for the IMD. QSL via EA1NW.

EA8, Canary Islands:
EH8WDX celebrates the World Amateur Radio Day (18th of April)
between the 17th and 20th. QSL via EA8ED, eQSL.

EI, Ireland:
Marconi's former station in Ireland (Brow Head, 1901-1914) will
appear on the air under EI5IMD. Cork Radio Club will set up two
stations for HF operations in CW and SSB, with a possible third
station for PSK31. QSL via EI2KA.

Likewise North Cork Radio Group will represent the Mizen Signal
Station in Goleen/West Cork as EI0IMD. QSL via EI1NC.

Last but not least EI0MAR will occupy the Howth Martello Tower
(WLOTA 2484), an early experimental site of Marconi's. Today the
tower houses the Hurdy Gurdy Museum of Vintage Radio.

F, France:
Also during the IMD TM114M will commemorate the first radio contact
between France and England. QSL via F5JYD.

FM, Martinique:
Paul, FM5AM, Jean-Baptiste, FM5GI, Valere, FM5CW, Claude, FM5CY,
and Henri, F6FLO, all members of the International Police
Association (IPA) will sign as TO4IPA from St. Pierre between the
18th of April and 2nd of May in CW, SSB, RTTY, and PSK.

G, England:
GB4RPI operates in memory of a tragic aeroplane accident of 1972.
118 persons died when a British European Airways flight from
Heathrow to Brussels chrashed after the start. Operation continues

HG50NOHAB celebrates a modernisation of the Hungarian Railway 50

Luciano brings the Vatican on air for the IMD as HV5OVR/IMD.

KP4, Puerto Rico:
The Puerto Rico Field Day Group will participate in the World

LZ, Bulgaria:
The Thracian Rose Club celebrates its founding 20 years ago in the
town of Kazanlak. Operations under LZ20TRC will continue till the

from Peloponnes (different locations / lighthouses) on 40 - 6m in

TA, Turkey:
Turkish Scouts commemorate the sacrifice of the 57th Regiment
during the Battle of Gallipoli (1915) with the call TC57A between

UA, Russia:
The air acrobatics group Russian Knights came into existence 22

A group of Russian amateurs celebrates the 40th International
Astronomy Day from several observatories (RAO-041, RAO-007, RAO-042,

World Radio Day-Diplom
Participants in the World Amateur Radio Day logging more
than 200 QSOs may apply for a cost-free award.

Silent Key:

Hermann Sachse (5Z4RT), passed away on 4 April. "He had been in
Kenya for decades", says Ted Alleyne, 5Z4NU, Chairman of the
Amateur Radio Society of Kenya, "was a Life Member of ARSK and ran
our Sunday morning nets for many years as well as being involved in
a medical net based in Germany".

Nusret Abadzic E73N (ex T93N, YU4BN) passed away on 6 April after
a long illness at 82 years of age. For many years he was the IARU
liaison officer for ARABiH, Bosnia-Hercegovina's national amateur
radio society.

Alan R. Leith (VE1AL) passed away unexpectedly on 11 April,
apparently from a heart attack, at 66 years of age. Over the years
Al edited several DX publications, and in 1988-89 he participated
in the CY9DXX and CY0DXX DXpeditions to St. Paul and Sable islands.
In paying their tribute to "a true gentleman in every sense of the
word", the CY9M team says that last year's expedition to St. Paul
"would not have happened without Al's help and knowledge".

Mike Bazley, VK6HD passed away on 12 April. one of Australia's most
successful DXers, he was the first station from Oceania to obtain
DXCC on 160 metres.
