12/04/2013: Stopping over on his way to the International DX Convention in
Visalia, Wes ZL3TE/W3SE plans to be active as 3D2SE from Suva, island of Viti
Levu (OC-016, WLOTA 0055), in the Rewa Province, Central Division, Fiji, between
12-16 April 2013. Activity during JIDX CW contest (13-14 April), some digimodes

12/04/2013: Roger, LA4GHA, is now active from Kenya and Somalia while on work
assignment for UNODC in East Africa. He will be active as 5Z4/LA4GHA from
Nairobi, Kenya (Grid Loc. KI88) and as 6O0LA from Garowe, Puntland, Somalia (WW
Loc. LJ48FI), depending on deployment, until December 2014. Roger is QRV on

12/04/2013: From April 12th till April 14th 2013 and April 19th till April 27th
2013, Johan PE9DX, Eltje PA3CEE and Rene PE1L will be active from Ghana as
9G5EME on 144 MHz, 432 MHz and 1296 MHz moonbounce. The locator will be IJ95GB.
Setup and schedule as follows: 144.134 MHz using 2 x 8 element cross yagi,
wa2odo preamp. 19 April 1296.090 MHz using 67 el yagi, 100 watt. 21 April
432.090 MHz using 23 el DK7ZB yagi, 100 watt. They will use 1 minute periods and

12/04/2013: A group from Segamat Dxers Club (9M4CMN) plan to be active as
9M4CMN/2 from Tioman Island [Pulau Tioman] (AS-046, WLOTA 3536) between 12-14
April 2013, HF SSB only. The island of Tioman is located 32km off the east coast
of Peninsular Malaysia in Pahang State (WW Loc. OJ22BT). The island is also
within the Mersing National Marine Park (Islands off Mersing Johor) and will
count for "World Wide Flora Fauna in Amateur Radio" with the WWFF reference

LOOKING AHEAD -

20/04/2013: The Hurdy Gurdy Museum of Vintage Radio will be celebrating
International Marconi Day, and the Howth Martello tower will be open on Saturday
20th April 2013 from 11 am to 4 pm at least, and probably longer. The call sign
will be EI0MAR. The Howth Martello tower was the site for an experimental
Marconi Station in 1905. The museum is located in the Martello Tower, Howth
Harbour, Fingal, County Dublin, Ireland (EU-115, WLOTA 2484, WW Loc. IO63XJ).

20/04/2013: The Guernsey ARC will activate the special RSGB Centenary callsign
GU100RSGB on 20-12 April 2013. Look for them to be QRV from St Andrew's, isle of
Guernsey (EU-114, WLOTA 0013) on all HF bands, plus 6m-70cm and the satellites.
Modes will be SSB, RTTY, PSK, WSJT and SSTV. QSL via the information at:

26/04/2013: To celebrate QRP Day the following special callsigns will be QRV
from different areas of Japan between 26 April and 30 June 2013 - 8J1VLP,

26/04/2013: Joe, K5KUA, will once again be active from Galveston Island

13/05/2013: Jim, G3VDB plans to return to the Republic of Maldives (AS-013)
between 13-26 May 2013, this time from Water Villa located on Komandoo Island,
overlooking the ocean. That should make his simple vertical antenna perform.
Holiday style operation on HF using CW and SSB. If propagation is good Jim will
try 14MHz SSB and CW; if conditions are poor, then it will be CW only. CW:

23/05/2013: Once again Kazu, M0CFW, will be active as MJ0CFW from St. Brelade,
isle of Jersey (EU-013, WLOTA 0818) between 23-27 May 2013. Kazu will also
participate in the CQWW WPX CW Contest (25-26 May) as a
Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry, using the callsign MJ5Z. QSL both calls via

25/05/2013: Yuri, N2TTA, will once again activate KP2MM for the CQWW WPX CW
Contest (25-26 May) from Christiansted, island of St. Croix (USi VI002S, WLOTA
2477), US Virgin Islands (NA-106) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via LoTW.

02/08/2013: Peter ON8ZZ, Frederik ON8ZL and Frank ON5NQ will activate the Isle
of Jersey (EU-013, WLOTA 0818) as MJ/OT9Z from 2-9 August 2013. Their QTH will
be the J.A.R.S Headquarters station located at the old German signal station at
La Moye (WW Loc. IN89VE). Plans are to be QRV on 160-6 metre SSB, CW, PSK and
RTTY, with 2 stations permanent (not at night but late in the evening). QSL via

04/10/2013: The Martello Tower Group plan a DXpedition to Herm Island (EU-114)
from 4-9 October 2013. Plans are to be QRV on all HF bands and modes. Team
members include Keith G6NHU, Tony G0MBA, Colin M1EAK, Yan M0YNK, Chris 2E0DBY,
Kevin M0GWE and Richard G7HJK. QSL bureau or direct to G6NHU (Keith Maton, 41

17/11/2013: Olaf, DL4HG and, Holger DL5XAT will once again be active as 9H3OG
and 9H3TX, respectively, from Marsalforn, Gozo Island (EU-023, MIA MM-004, WLOTA
0046, WW Loc. JM76CB) between 17-25 November 2013. They will also be active as a
Multi-Single entry in the CQWW DX CW Contest (23-24 November) using the
callsign 9H3TX. Outside the contest they will be QRV on the WARC bands using CW

23/11/2013: The Radio Reef DX'ers will once again be active as KP2M during the
CQWW DX CW Contest (23-24 November) from the island of St. Croix (USi VI002S,

SPECIAL EVENTS -

12/04/2013: DL75KUE, special event station of the radio club of Bad Doberan
(DOK V06) commemorates the diamond jubilee of the seaside resort Kuehlungsborn,
located at the coast of the Balic Sea. Operations started in March 2013 and will
continue until 28 February 2014. Their special DOK 75KUE runs until 22nd of

12/04/2013: Until 18th of April 2013 the special callsign EH7DMR for the event
"World Amateur Radio Day" (18th April) will be active. This year the IARU has
decided on the theme: "Amateur Radio: Entering Its Second Century of
Communications on Disasters." Also in the memory of the first emergency
communication via amateur radio in 1913 by the youngster (15) Herbert Vestner
"H.V." Akerberg, who helped during a severe flood in Columbus. EH7DMR will be
active on all bands and modes giving a special QSL per contact and a free award

12/04/2013: From 9am on Friday 12 April to 5pm on 13 April 2013, Sheffield
Amateur Radio Club will be operating as GB5SWW for Sheffield Wireless Worlds
from the Sheffield Hallam University Cantor Building in the centre of Sheffield,
England (EU-005, WLOTA 1841). The station is part of an exhibition of art and
film by Esther Johnson, a talented artist, film maker and Reader in Media at the
Hallam University. GB5SWW hopes to be active on all bands from 80m to 10m as
well as D-Star and the local 70cm repeater GB3US. QSL cards should go via the GB

12/04/2013: Call sign TE1856 is the special historical commemoration of the
route taken by a group of men who were part of the Costa Rican army. These men,
by taking this route, succeeded in carrying out a campaign against the
filibusters in 1856. It is recognized as one of the most important historical
moments of the Costa Rican people and the successful expression in the patriotic
defense of our values. In the second phase, known as the second campaign of
December, 1856 the Costa Rican army passed through the central cantons of
Zarcero and San Carlos on their way to Muelle to confront the filibusters who
were assembled at the San Juan River. This march is called "The Route of Heroes"
and it was here that the freedom for Central America was conceived. TE1856 is

13/04/2013: This coming weekend, 13th and 14th, Torbay ARS are running the RSGB
centenary callsign G100RSGB from Newton Abbott and plan to be on air for 24
hours on the 13th. They will have an HF station on the air running SSB,

13/04/2013: The Radio Society of Harrow (G3EFX) will be running special call
sign GX3EFX from the 1940's house in Bushey, Hertfordshire (WW Loc. IO91TP),
England (EU-005, WLOTA 1841), for the 1940's House Family Experience Weekend on
13 and 14 April 2013 and displaying period radio equipment. They will be running

13/04/2013: MGY was the name that identified the Titanic transatlantic during
the inaugural cruise and used during the tragic hours before the wreck on the
night of 14 April 1912. The special callsign II1MGY will be activated by radio
operators from "Radio Club Vercelli" on the TITANIC DAY 13 April 2013, organized
to mark the anniversary of the sinking, and a few days before and after the
event. All stations will receive a special QSL via bureau. The OM and SWL can
receive direcly the special QSL, if they send their QSL in a close envelope with
the radio contact and one IRC to IW1EHL. [DXNL]

13/04/2013: CR5IARU is the special callsign for the Rede dos Emissores
Portugueses, Portugal's national IARU society, to celebrate World Amateur Radio
Day. Look for activity on all bands from 13 to 19 April 2013. QSL via CT1REP

13/04/2013: The Cleddau Amateur Radio Society (GC0SYG), Neyland, Wales, will be
operating special event station GC0SYG/MM from on-board the Stena Europe
passenger ferry in memory of the 101st Titanic remembrance weekend from 0200 UTC
on 13 April to 2359 UTC on 14 April 2013. The ferry will travel between
Fishguard in Wales and Rosslare in Ireland and the station will operate on 40m
and 20m primarily using CW and SSB with and some PSK31. Spots will be made via
clusters. There will be a special QSL card printed for the event and you can
either QSL via the bureau or direct to GW3CR (Ray Richards, 77 Church Road,

14/04/2013: GB2GKR will air for the first time for Maritime Radio Day (MRD)
2013 on 14th and 15th April 2013 from the location of the closed down former
coastal radio station Wick Radio Dixon (former call GKR), East Kilbride,

18/04/2013: Queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Beatrix van Oranje-Nassau,
will hand over on 30th April the throne to her eldest son Prince Willem
Alexander. On 30th April 1980 she took over the throne of her mother Juliana.
When she abdicates her throne she has been our Queen for almost 33 years. From
this moment on 30th April 2013 she will become princess again. Further

19/04/2013: The Amateur Radio Section of ORF (the Austrian Broadcasting
Corporation) and the Documentary Archives Radio Communications/QSL Collection
will operate special event station OE13M on 19-21 April 2013. This is an
