American Samoa, KH8. Lance, W7GJ, wrote: In recent years, KH8 has become a very difficult catch on 6m. For that reason, this year I have made plans to activate American Samoa as KH8/W7GJ on 6m EME from July 13 to July 28. I will concentrate on July 13-21, when EME conditions are most favorable. We will also operate on terrestrial propagation modes if they become available, but expect to be busy contacting many single yagi stations via EME using JT65A mode. If you still need KH8 on 6m, I certainly hope you will take advantage of
this opportunity to contact us!. The reason for this advance notice is to give you time to clear your schedule and finalize any station improvements before the DXpedition. The QTH selected has a negative horizon out over the ocean from moonrise in the east, around through north to moonset in the west, so we will have common moon with Europe on both moonrise and moonset. Current details plus future updates are available on my website:
http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/AmericanSamoa2014.htm As with my previous 6m EME DXpeditions to the Pacific, contributions are very much needed and welcomed! It is a lot of effort and expense to haul a 6m EME station halfway around the world! Any amount is very much appreciated and can be submitted to my Pay Pal account via my email address of: w7gj@q.com Many thanks for your continued support, and I hope to put many of you serious 6m DXers in the log this July!

The Gambia, C5. Pedro, ON7WP/C5WP, announced on QRZ.com that he and Andre, ON7YK/C5YK, are or will be the only two permanent licensed hams in The Gambia for 2014 (as of now). Pedro will be active between April 8-12th, from the village Buntu (where he does charity care -see QRZ.com), and has set up his permanent base station (Kenwood TS480, Kenwood TRC-80, Yaesu FT897, a brand new 5 band Spiderbeam and a V-beam traveling wave antenna 2x120 meter. Activity should be on 80-6 meters using SSB and PSK. Outside these days, April 7-15th, Pedro will also be mobile on 21300 kHz. He has no grid power, only solar panels and a Chinese generator. Pedro also provided the following info [edited]: "After a 14 days round trip in The Gambia and Senegal now more than two years ago, I found out I was (according to African standards) incredibly rich and wanted to do something for the locals. So I gave my guide instructions to drive off the regular road into the Savanna and said the first village we would find, would give them some special sponsoring. So we ended in Buntu, where my wife sponsored a repair of a collapsing water well; we fixed a building that used to keep the grains safe from rains; we installed solar panels and donated two laptops to improve their English by watching movies on these. As a return gift, I was donated some land to build my own house, so we installed 4 small guest houses 'Kerr Pedro' to welcome future visitors-philanthropists.
Everybody is invited to stay over for free as long as they bring aid goods along (clothes and educational stuff, or invest in projects, buy food and groceries on their way). Last visit, I installed a big 5 Band spider beam, my friend ON5OF sponsored a 2.2 kW generator so now one of the houses is a fully operational ham radio shack available for guest operators/philanthropists. I can assist obtaining temporary licenses in The Gambia and provide local transport and guiding using a jeep we also sponsored as part of out Charity project. There is a Kenwood TRC-80 radio available on site. The 3 dollars we ask for direct QSL goes directly into the development of the village Buntu. QSL cards are sponsored by Max, ON5UR, so most of this donation can be effectively used apart for the return postage. Any more info can be found on the
SmileGambia.org website. In April, we go back to check if the active building project for a community hall that also can be used for school will be finished where we will also install satellite TV for further improvement of their English. The amateur radio station could also use a low weight amplifier to improve our signal so if anybody could help on this point making us better readable that would be most appreciated."Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin #1149 11 Feb. 2014 - 12 Apr. 2014

Mauritius, 3B8. A few sources are reporting that Robert, M0RCX, will be active as 3B8/M0RCX from Mauritius sometime around May 2-28th. Activity will be on 40/20/15/10/6 meters using some CW and mainly Digital (JT65, PSK31, ROS and maybe FSK441). Mauritius, 3B8. Update. Last week we reported that Robert, M0RCX, would be active as 3B8/M0RCX from Mauritius sometime around May 2-28th. Since then, Robert has updated OPDX about his activity. He informs that his trip to Mauritius is more as a tourist with his family and not seen as a DXpedition. His power will be limited to 100 watts, and he hopes to have a hexbeam, a wire beam for 6m (possibly made from the island's bamboo), as well as a delta loop and long wire available for his activity. He states, "Airlines are very picky about what I can take and anything full of wires poses twenty questions and rightly so. My antennas; therefore, will be simplistic." His operating position will be close to the city center of Port Louis in the North West of the Island. He does plan/hopes to operate at least 3 hours a day on the following HF Phone bands: 40/20/17/15/12/10 meters. He is also planning to operate on some PSK and JT65 making some contacts with low to modest power levels (NO amp). Robert has been asked about moonbounce over the horizon but thinks this may be optimistic with only 100 watts. He will set up a schedule on QRZ.com under 3B8M0RCX (He states, "For some reason it will not permit the '/' after the suffix.)." Also, look for him to put up a band schedule up (as soon as he can), but provisionally Robert will fly to Mauritius on May 1st, so he should be up and running between May 3-28th. As an added note, Robert also mentions, "I plan to live over there in about four years so hopefully I'll get a feel for it. QTH is inland about a mile from the ocean but there is a mountain behind me (east) this is why I wish to push my signals over to the west."
