26/04/2014: Steve, M1ACB, and other Camb-Hams members plan to be active as GS3PYE/p from the Decca cottage, on the isle of Lewis (IOSA OH01, SCOTIA HI21, WLOTA 1477, WW Loc. IO68UL), Outer Hebrides (EU-010), between 26th April and 3rd May 2014. QRV on 80m to 10m covered with five stations on the air simultaneously, all capable of running the legal power limit from five linear amplifiers. 6m and 4m with a great take-off to the UK and Europe, all at legal limit. 29/04/2014: Members of the NOLOGO Independent DXers, namely Ivano I2RFJ, Claudio IK3HAR, Alberto IV3BSY, Bruno IW3HXR, Tony IZ2ESV and Andrea IZ2LSC will be active as TK1R from the island of Corsica (EU-014, DIFM TK-001, MIA MCO-001, WLOTA 1390) between 30th April and 4th May, 2014. 01/05/2014: Mal, VK6LC, will be celebrating 31 Years of DXing 1983-2014 by having a North and South America DX Vacation during the months of May, June and July, 2014. From 1-31st May Mel will be active as W6, W7, W9, W1, W4/VK6LC, Amtrak Railway Mobile, 2m FM simplex (146.520 MHz). The first week of June, Mal will join forces with Pedro, HK3JJH, in Bogota, Colombia. From 5-9th June they will be QRV from the Anazon Jungle, Colombia, as HK9/VK6LC and HK9/HK3JJH. Between 13-17th June will see the active from San Andres Island (NA-033, WLOTA 2990, WWFF HKFF-035) as HK0/VK6LC and HK0/HK3JJH. Mal will then be active once again from Bogota as HK3/VK6LC from 18-24 June. From 26-29th June and 9-12th July will see Mel QRV from Santiago, Chile, as CE3/VK6LC. 06/05/2014: Renner, PY7RP, will once again be active as PY7RP/6 from the island of Tinhare (SA-080, DIB BA-05, WLOTA 1624), Bahia State, Brazil, between 6-12th May, 2014. 10/05/2014: During the weekend of 10-11th May, using the callsign MX0INT, a four man "Invoker Team" consisting Christian EA3NT, Vincent F4BKV, Gil F4FET and Col MM0NDX plan to be active from the outer Farne island of Longstone (EU-109, WAB NU23, Grid Loc. IO95). Activity will also count for the Longstone lighthouse (Admiralty A2814, ARLHS ENG-070, WLOTA 0234). At this stage it is likely the activation will be during local daylight hours only, however they will strive for a longer activation period when actually there, working with island representatives. 22/05/2014: Operators Tomas SM6XMY, Sten SM6MIS, Bengt SM6UQL, Rick SM6U and Janne SM6YOF plan activity from the island of Vinga (EU-043, SWA-163, WLOTA 1517, WWFF SMFF-3495), using the callsign 7S6W, between 22-25 May, 2014. 28/05/2014: Masa, JA0RQV, plans to be active as A35JP/p from Hihifo village, Niuatoputapu [aka Keppel] Island (OC-191) between 28 May and 3 June, 2014. QRV on 80-6 metre CW and SSB using a IC-7000 and vertical antenna. Activity will be sporadic as Masa will have to rely on generator and/or car battery for power. Note: in case of flight cancellation, Masa will activate either Vava'u Island (OC-064) or Tongatapu Island (OC-049) instead. 25/04/2014: To celebrate ANZAC Day, the Australian authorities have granted permission for all VK amateurs to use the prefix AX. Australian amateur operators will also be able to use the AX prefix once again for World Telecommunication Day on 17th May. QSL via operators' instructions. [DXNL]
25/04/2014: Guglielmo Marconi was a Senator in the Italian Senate in 1914. 25/04/2014: The Amateur Radio Section of ORF (the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) and the Documentary Archives Radio Communications/QSL Collection will operate special event station OE14M on 25-27th April 2014. 26/04/2014: The Radioclub de Wimereux (F5KBM) will be active as TM1CW on 26-27th April 2014 to celebrate the 115th anniversary of the first wireless telegraphy communication across the English Channel. QSL via F5KBM. [425 DX News]
26/04/2014: Organized by the Cornish Radio Amateur Club, the International Marconi Day (IMD) is a 24-hour amateur radio event held annually to celebrate the birth of Guglielmo Marconi (25 April 1874). It is not a contest, but an opportunity for amateurs around the world to make contacts with historic Marconi sites using HF communications techniques. This year's event will be held on 26 April, from 0000 UTC through 2359 UTC. 30/04/2014: Between 30th April and 6th of May 2014 look for the following stations to be active to celebrate ARRL's centennial year: W1AW/1 will see shared operation by Mike K1DM, located in Salem, New London County, State of Connecticut and John W1AN, located in Ledyard, New London County, State of Connecticut. 01/05/2014: Members of IPA will be active as PG200KMAR between now and February 2015. NAQCC FLORIDA CHAPTER APRIL FIELD EVENT -
The Florida Chapter of NAQCC will hold their April Field Event tomorrow, April 25th in Colby Park, Cassadaga Florida.
Operations should commence by 9 AM EDT and last through the noon lunch hour (1300z to 1700z).
Operators will include Art WB4MNK (#5274), Wally KG4LAL (#6278), Steve WB4OMM (#5913), Darryl AB8GU (#6913) and Don K3RLL (#1905 FC7).
Frequencies we expect to annihilate include 7.040-7.045, 10.116,
14.060-14.063, 18.075-18.085, and 21.060 MHz.
Anyone in North Central Florida is welcome to join us, with or without
