OSTERREICH [AUSTRIA] - NEW CALLSIGN RELEASE:
The Vienna International Amateur Radio Club (4U1VIC) will operate stations under newly released callsigns of C7A and 4Y1A as a host institute. The callsign blocks C7A-C7Z and 4YA-4YZ have been allocated to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) respectively. CUBA & 60 METRES:
Cuban radio amateurs have been authorized to operate SSB, CW, PSK31 and PSK63 on 5418-5430 kHz, "a continuous segment of 12 kHz, unlike other countries that allow 'channels'. Transmitting power is limited based on the class of license, 10Watts for novices; 50watts for the rest. It allows for up to 100watts for all users in emergency conditions".

A large multinational team of 20-24 operators is being assembled for a DXpedition to take place from Malawi between 10 November and 02 December. The callsign will be 7QAA (no second number in the prefix) and the team will be split into two sub-teams:
Team One will operate only SSB and RTTY (160-6 metres) on 10-20 November, while Team Two will operate CW only from 21 November to 02 December, including a M/2 entry in the CQ WW DX CW Contest. The CY0P DXpedition team (VE1RGB, AI5P and WA4DAN) has donated a complete HF station to Aaron, CY0/VA1AXC, who is returning to Sable Islandaround 16 April. The team has also ordered new antenna wire for his all band dipole. This is in addition to all of the antennas and coaxial cables used by CY0P and donated to Parks Canada at the conclusion of the DXpedition. Aaron works a rotating schedule for Parks Canada ( approximately two months on the island, and two months back in Nova Scotia). QSL via JE1LET, direct only.

Landing and operating permissions for the joint effort by theRadio Club de Provins and the Lyon DX Gang [425DXN 1154] have been granted, and Tromelin will be back on the amateur radio bands from 30 October to 10 November 2014.
