April 24, 2014
Sometimes you just wonder what’s going on. It seemed like Ten was drifting back to the old days of a dead band or sparse weedy signals. Then suddenly (usually at the weekend) it springs back into life.
This week had it’s ups and downs but Friday through to Saturday were actually really lively. Not that I worked too much, I was at the Sky TV Studio for a live footy broadcast.
I worked SV5BYP, HZ14WARD, EA8URT, RW6A, TC47A, UR4QX, TC10SWAV, 4X1IM and ZS1CBT. I also heard ZS6CS, D3AA, V51B, 4Z1JS, VU2UUU, 4L8A on Friday and Datta, VU2DSI on Monday.
Saturday Kayrol, 9W2ADC, worked JA6IGO, JA1CXA, JA1VD, JA1FTL, IK7MOI, VU2ATN, SQ9ITN, ON3KSE, UT5ZC, SP8BUH, UR5UCS, 9A7JCX, I0QLR, UR3HC, F8DRA, UR5IFB, RX6AM, UR6QC, OK1AY, IK1TM, UX1BZ, YO3APJ, R5QA, IK3PCZ, S51Z, PA3WB, SQ5WAF, OP7M, PD7YY, UR4QHB, SP6EQZ, F6BIA, F9OO, RW0AR, PP1WO, RM4W, IZ1YKQ, LX1CC, IK3XJP, IK6HMF, IK3RMF,DO2ADI, SQ2LIA, OK1IWS, SP6BXZ, EA8AIN, 3Z9DX, I2JSB, SP4WRF, SP8DIP, EA5FOX all station 5/9. I needed to pack and go back to Kuala Lumpur.” He worked 9W2ADC, JA2JGB 5/8, BD8GGH 5/9, JE1GZB 5/9, JF2FMP 5/9, JR2TRC 5/9.
I hope that doesn’t mean we will not get any more reports.
Zaifful, 9W2MZY, worked: M0BZH, UU2JG, RX6AM, ON7DDG, ON7LX, R7WA, RA0VBK, IW0FUW, UR5LFO , IK4JPK, IK6JSZ, IZ2GAF, F5TJK, DO8LA, ON8DM, I2ACC, RK6FO, YO8NR, SP5SR, OE6GRG, S5CFZ, EA2DNY, G8GXP, 9A7JCY, PA0DOM, F6BIA, YO2MKJ, PA1K, DJ9RQ, IK1ZQH, DL5GBW, M0JHW, IZ3TZ, IZ2ODM, DK4TP, EA4KD, LZ2TW, HB9CGL, SP3J, CT1BBU, DK4CR, D3DMN, S53JW, HA5OV, IZ3XEF, IK2LFF, IZ1KGH, IV3ZJU, 2E0MNG, M6PPV and EAIHS on Tuesday. “Pile up again on 10mtr , within the same month last year I had worked 131 Station , more then last year, a personal record.”

Earth is passing through a stream of debris from ancient Comet Thatcher, source of the annual Lyrid meteor shower. So far this year's shower is trending toward the usual--that is, mild--but surprises are possible. Forecasters expect the shower to peak on April 22nd between the hours of 10:00 UT and 21:00 UT.
