the Associazione Radioamatori Italiani with twelve stations in

birthplace of Fausto Coppi, cycling legend and champion of the

Japanese amateurs join forces as 8N1HQ for the IARU championship
from the following locations: Minato-ku, Tokyo Metropolitan Area
(FEDXP) 10m/CW and 80m/CW, 75m/SSB; Kimitsu City, Chiba
Prefecture
(University of Tokyo Contest Club) 15m/CW; Naka Gun, Kanagawa
Prefecture (International DX Radio Club) 15m/SSB and 10m/SSB.

33rd World Gliding Championships, which will take place in

on

V5, Namibia:
A German group is on the way to support a local team of amateurs
with their V55HQ activity for the IARU championship. Martin,
V51W,
is their team leader, other members of the local group include

The Headquarter station of the World Radio Team Championship

The Burlington County Radio Club (K2TD) continues to operate

special event station N2M until July 13 to honour the memory of
the
Mexican pilot Emilio Caranza. While on his flight back from a
goodwill mission to New York his plane crashed near Pine Barrens
(NJ) on 12 July 1928. Mexico City, Carranza's destination, also
operates a special event station with the call XE1LM.

YR0HQ represents the Federatia Romana de Radioamatorism (FRR) in
the IARU Championship. There is an award available in 4

ZF, Cayman Islands:
Members of the Cayman Amateur Radio Society (CARS) participate
in
the contest as ZF1A representing their society's HQ from Grand

Gayle K6GO (ZF2GO), Mike NA6MB (ZF2NA), and Jim K6ZH (ZF2ZH)
will
operate with their individual calls from the 9th to the 13th on

Silent Key:
Tom Anderson, WW5L, died on July 3. He was a member of the Lone
Star DX Association, the DXCC Honor Roll (340/332), and was also
involved in the annual Ham-Com convention at Dallas.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We are sorry for
their loss.
