S7, SEYCHELLES (Correction). Kasimir, DL2SBY, will be active as S79KB
from two islands in the Seychelles between October 4-18th. He is scheduled
to activate Mahe (October 4-9th) and Praslin (October 9-18th). Both islands
are IOTA AF-024. Activity will be on 20-10 meters including 17/12 meters
and possibly 30 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. His equipment will be a
FT900AT with an ACOM 1010 amp (400w [allowed], not 600w as reported last
week) into a triple-leg antenna for 20-10m. He will upload the log onto
ClubLog. The QSL cards will be printed as soon as possible. QSL  via
DL2SBY, by the Bureau, direct and as well as through PayPal requests.

VK9 DX-VACATION (Reminder). A JA team is planning to be active from
Christmas Island (VK9X) and Cocos-Keeling Island (VK9C) sometime between
late July and early August. Operators mentioned are Mars/JA3FVJ, Ichiro/
JA3QWN, Ikuo/JA3TJA, Masa/JF3PLF and Taka/JH3FUK. Their tentative schedule
is as followings:
   VK9EC (Cocos Keeling) - between July 29th and August 2nd; IOTA OC-002
   VK9EX (Christmas Island) - between August 2-8th; IOTA OC-003

Activity will be holiday style on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB, FM,
RTTY and PSK31. QSL via JF3PLF, direct or by the Bureau (within one
year of operation!). Uploads to LoTW or ClubLog will be available after
their operation (Highly recommended). A Web page is available, but is
still under construction at:   http://vk9.nobody.jp/index.html

VP2V, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. Kevin, K6TOP, will once again be active
as VP2V/K6TOP from Tortola, British Virgin Islands (NA-023), between
July 26th and August 1st. Activity will be limited (family vacation)
using an ICOM 706 MKII with 100 watts into a 40m vertical, 20/15/10
multiband dipole. Operations will be CW almost exclusively. Operating
hours are typically 0100-0300z and 1000-1200z due to family commitments.
QSLs via LoTW preferred, log will be uploaded upon return. Kevin states,
"When the pileups get difficult, I listen to the edges, so please spread
your calls out."

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. Max, N5NHJ/I8NHJ, is now active as VP5/I8NHJ
from the Turks and Caicos Islands until July 26th. He informs OPDX, "I'll
be active randomly, between a swim and a dive, using a vertical stuck into
the sand directly on the beach. Primary mode will be CW, but I'll use RTTY,
PSK31 and SSB as well from 6 to 20 meters. Radio is a IC-7100 and power is
400W (tnx W1NA). LoTW QSOs will be uploaded as soon as I get back in Dallas.
QSL direct is ok, if anybody needs, via N5NHJ."

VQ9, CHAGOS ISLANDS (Update). Two weeks ago we mentioned that Bob, N7XR,
was planning to be active as VQ9XR from Diego Garcia (AF-006) in 2014.
It was announced that his planned operations will start on or about August
25th for 3 weeks followed up by a 1 week trip in October or November.
Activity will be focused on CW and RTTY (some SSB) during these trips.
Operations will be on 160-10 meters using an IC7600 with an amp into a
SteppIR-BigIR, Spiderbeam and dipoles for 80/160m. No 6 meters this trip
(no antenna). QSL via NN1N, direct only (No Bureau or LoTW). Look for
possible updates on:          http://www.wake-diego2014.org
