Question on a diy 2m dipole

New tech here, I am planning on building this diy project this week.

http://ift.tt/2fQsP2q

It says to use 16-1/2 feet of cable. I am planning on terminating this in a wall box and putting a connector on a wall plate. Then using a second cable to connect my HT to the wall plate connector.

Q1. Do I need to shorten the cable to account for the extra cable length (so entire length is 16-1/2)?

Q2. How do I account for the extra connectors or is that negligible?

I don’t have an SWR meter yet.

Thanks, Larry KM4YPF
