100,000w (106.7mhz) 295 miles away is coming in perfect on a 2m half wave dipole on a RF-3100, Does this sound sane?

Im perplexed, 2m halfwave dipoles should perform like garbage on FM broadcast right? The weirdest part is no radios can get it here in Cheyenne but this RF-3100 with the vertical dipole. It gets it perfect with a 4 on the tuning meter!
