ID-51a – connecting to gateway?

Say I am trying to connect to a repeater in DR mode. If I hold down the CS button it says UR=CQCQCQ, R1=repeatername_B, R2=notUsed, MY=mycallsign. Without using software, how can I change it to be UR=CQCQCQ, R1=repeatername_B, R2=repeatername G, MY=mycallsign …in order to access all of the repeaters connected to this repeaters gateway? I know I can do this easily with software but I’m just curious how to go about doing this just on the radio. Selecting the R2 section does not allow me to change it at all.
