Just bought a BC75XLN and need some recommendations

Hello from Uruguay!!

Let me just start by saying I’m completely new to the subject of radios, and even though I have played with an sdr some years back, I don’t have the full knowledge of frequencies, wave lengths and whatever else I should know… Yet.

Just wanted everyone’s opinion on what a good external antenna would be for my new BC75XLN scanner. Preferably one I can build myself. The idea is to mount it on the roof of my house and connect it to the scanner.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what would be the best antenna? I would like to listen mainly to the atc and passing aircraft since I live near an airport.
