I’m a new ham, I don’t even actually have a radio yet but I’m planning g on spending a little bit on a cheap HT so I can spend a bit more on HF hear when I get my general. Until then, I’m looking for a fun and inexpensive project that I can build. I’m working on learning morse so my first thought was a straight key. I did a quick search and nothing came up for making a keyer using a momentary switch, which I would like to use since that way I shouldn’t have to go out and buy any other parts. If anyone’s Google fu is better than my own, let me know if there’s a guide online for building one like that. Other than that, I was intrigued by pixie kits and others of the sort, but many people seem to discourage new hams from trying low power operating. Any other ideas?
