What are the benefits of different satellite frequencies, such as Ka over Ku or C-band?

I’m writing an article and was wondering what the benefits of the different frequency bands that are used by satellites – focusing on Ka, Ku and C band.

What are the advantages of each, such as rain fade, speeds, coverage and anything else that may be of interest.
