June
23rd. Activity is on 40-10 meters using CW and SSB. QSL via his home
callsign.
9N, NEPAL. Joël, F3CJ, is planning a Mountain Manaslu trek in Nepal
between
September 23rd and November 5th. He will operate from the following
areas:
September 24th-October 6th -- Kathmandu; Radio activity
October 7-23rd -- Ascension Manaslu (8164 meters); Mountain activity
October 24th-November 4th -- Kathmandu; Radio activity
His callsign is pending, and he has requested 9N7CJ. QSL via F3CJ. For
more
details and updates, visit his blog at: http://f3cjnepal.wordpress.com
ANTARCTIC STATION. Gianni, I1HYW, informs OPDX readers that Paride,
IZ3SUS, is currently active as IA/IZ3SUS from Concordia Dome “C” (WAP
MNB-03), a French-Italian Multi-national Base on the Antarctic
Plateau.
If you check on QRZ.com under IZ3SUS, Paride has put some pictures
of
the antenna and Radio Room at Concordia Station which are nice to
see.
RTX is a Rhode & Schwartz XK2100L, 150 W HF transceiver with a
frequency
range 1.5 MHz to 30 MHz operated remotely via an integrated multi
standard
serial interface, managed from the Radio room.
Paride has registered an IRC channel on Freenode so that is now
possible
to chat with him when he is available even at the Radio Room or when
working. To get connected you just have to follow a simple procedure:
1) Go to <https://webchat.freenode.net/>
2) Select a nickname (suggested to use your callsign) and type it
on
the window.
3) On "Channel" site type: ##antarctica (with two ##)
4) Insert the security code and click on "Connect"
Well, now you are online and you can type your message in the line
at
the bottom of the page. When Paride is on (his id is "pl"), you can
chat, talk about skeds, just say Hello or whatsoever else.
QSL manager Gianni, I1HYW, has just received the package with
cards.
This coming week he will start to answer the requests received so
far.
QSLs donated by F8DHE have been printed by LZ3HI Gold Print
Service.
Thanks to Pierre, F8DHE, for his kind donation and to Ronan, F8AFC,
for
managing everything in a fantastic way.
More information, visit the WAP Web site at: http://www.waponline.it

TX5, CHESTERFIELD ISLANDS (And Other New Caledonia IOTAs). The "Les
Nouvelles DX" is reporting that Michel "Mic" FK8IK, will be sailing
with
some non-radio amateur friends between November 1-30th. They plan to
set
sail on November 1st from Noumea, New Caledonia, and head towards the
DXCC entity Chesterfield Islands (OC-176) first. Their voyage will
take
some 100 hours (about 4 days) and expect to arrive at Chesterfield on
November 5th. Look for Mic to use the callsign TX5C which is a
reissued
callsign that was used during the last Clipperton DXpedition (March
2008)
-- this will probably confuse some logging programs. They will depart
from Chesterfield on November 10th, and sail next toward the New
Cale-
donian's D'entrecasteaux Reefs (OC-058). This trip will take 80 hours
to reach the reef on November 14th, and Mic will be active as TX5E
until
he departs on November 18th for Belep Islands (OC-079). This will be
his last island, and Mic will operate as TX5B starting about November
21st for three days before heading back to Noumea on November 24th.
The
return trip is expected to take 4 days (November 28th). Between each
leg of the trip, Mic will use the callsign FK8IK/MM. Operations from
each island will be on 40-10 meters using 100 watts into a vertical
antenna (homemade) and an antenna tuner. Modes will be CW and SSB.
ADDED NOTES AND REMINDERS. Mic will be the sole operator, so please
have a little patience. Also, the TX5C operation will only count for
the Chesterfield Islands (FK/C), and the TX5B & TX5E will only
count
for New Caledonia for DXCC purposes.
VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. Operators Georg/DK7LX and Phil/G3SWH
will
be active as VP5/G3SWH from Grand Turk Island between October 1-9th.
Activity will be on 80-10 meters (no 160/60/6m) using two stations
with
wire antennas and operating CW only. Phil states, "This DXpedition is
fully funded by the operators and we have not sought any sponsorship.
Grand Turk is one of the Turks Islands and counts as NA-003 for IOTA
purposes. The IOTA Web site indicates that it is needed by over 60%
of
IOTA participants." There will be a log search facility which is
subject
to a decent Internet connection and will be updated daily at:
The log will also be uploaded to the ARRL's Log Book of the World
(LoTW) and Club Log. QSLs will be available via G3SWH's OQRS facility
at
<www.g3swh,org.uk/decision.html> (preferred), direct via
snail mail with
adequate return postage or via the RSGB bureau. Please note that IRCs
are
NOT accepted. There is more information available at the above Web page
(*)
which will be updated from time to time.
ZA, ALBANIA (Update/Change). Members of the Belgian NB-DX Team will
be
active as ZA/ON6NB from Shkodër city in northwestern Albania between
June 6-15th (not 5-15th as first announced). Activity will be on 80-6
meters using CW, SSB, PSK and RTTY, with an emphasis on the higher
bands,
propagation conditions permitting. Operators mentioned are
Erik/ON4ANN
(Team leader/SSB-Op), Philippe/ON4ACP (CW-Op), Jose/ON4CAU (CWOp),
Erik/ON4CCV (SSBOp), Marc/ON4CJY (SSB-Op), Cedric/ON4CKM (SSB-Op),
Patrick/ON4DCU (SSBOp), Paul/ON5PDV (SSB/Digital Modes Op),
Rudi/ON6MI
(SSB-Op) and Walter/ON8CW (Digital Modes-Op). QSL via ON4ANN. This is
the same group that was active as HB0/ON6NB from Liechtenstein in
2012
and as MJ/ON6NB from Jersey in 2013. For more details, see:
ZD9, TRISTAN DA CUNHA. Pierre, ZS1HF (ex-ZS8M), who is currently on
Gough
Island (AF-030) and active as ZD9M, will be joined by another
operator,
Julian who recently got his ZS3JG license from South Africa. He has
asked
for the callsign ZD9JG. Both operators will be there until
October.
