Despite the old timers argument of what if the children heard story, what is your opinion on this? Host an adults only repeater in a dead part of the band. 2m and 440 are saturated with repeaters that are dead, nobody uses, or nothing has keyed up in months. Someone parks a freq and it dies or is never used. This is a very fine line between breaking the “law” and enjoying the hobby?
As a child safe disclaimer, if you are putting it on a dead band, and using the premise that if you don’t want your kids to hear or key up, then don’t program it into your radio, and, it is the parents responsibility, not the repeater owner, to protect and monitor their actions, then what? I hear of so many arguments about what if a child heard it? I think this is passing on the responsibility of raising someone else’s child onto a party that has no legal responsibility to police them.
What are your thoughts? Ultimately, it is up to the individual operator, that is transmitting rf, to decide how they conduct themselves on the air, not the repeater owner. Many may point out that I’m wrong in my interpretation.
