Seeking gift ideas

Hi, everyone! My husband just got his license but he doesn’t yet have any equipment. I’d love to help him get started, but I know nothing about amateur radio. Are there basic items that anyone would need, or should I go with a gift card? What are some good online stores for gift cards? Thanks for any help!
