3B8    - Paul, HB9ARY will be active as  3B8/HB9ARY  from  Mauritius  Island
         (AF-049) until 18 August. He operates SSB and some CW  on  40,  20,
         17, 15, 12 and 10 metres. QSL direct to NI5DX. [TNX The Daily DX]
3D2_rot- Tony, 3D2AG was expected to be  active  from  Rotuma  between  late
         July  and  early  August  [425DXN  1212].  However,  the  trip  was
         cancelled because of bad weather on the island  and  unavailability
         of flights, and it has been postoponed  to  12-26  September.  Tony
         will be QRV in his spare time as 3D2AG/p on 40-6 metres SSB and  CW
         using a solar powered station with 3-element Yagi and  inverted  V.

5R     - Jack, AI4SV will be moving to  Madagascar  with  his  job  in  late
         August, and will be resident there for about three  years.  He  has
         obtained the callsign 5R8SV and expects to be active mainly  on  CW
         on the HF bands, but he "likes to experiment with others". QSL  via
         G3SWH, direct or bureau (OQRS preferred),  and  LoTW.  There  is  a

9M2    - Mirek, VK6DXI will be active again as 9M8DX/2  from  West  Malaysia
         on 8-26 August. He will be  QRV  in  his  spare  time  and  operate
         mainly CW. QSL via SP5UAF. [TNX The Daily DX]
CE     - A team of six operators (CE7FKG,  CE7HER,  CE7HHM,  CE7PGO,  CE7PTH
         and CE7TCC) will be active as XR7FTC from the lighthouse  at  Punta
         Tres Cruces on Chiloe Island (SA-018)  on  16-18  August.  QSL  via
         CE7PGO,  direct  or bureau.  See  for further
CX     - A team from Radio Club Uruguayo will be active  as  CW1R  from  the
         lighthouse at Punta del Este on 15-17  August.  They  will  operate
         CW, SSB and digital  modes  on  80-10  metres  with  at  least  two
         stations. QSL via bureau or direct to Radio Club Uruguayo,P.O.  Box

D4     - Carlo, ON4BR will be active as  D44TLO  from  Boa  Vista  (AF-086),
         Cape Verde on 16-23 August. He will  operate  mainly  CW  on  40-10

EA6    - Look for Alex, EA6/SQ9UM  and  his  brother  Tom,  EA6/SQ9C  to  be
         active from Mallorca (EU-004), Balearic Islands  on  10-24  August.
         They will operate CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK on  40-6  metres.  QSL  via

EI     - The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will be  active  as  EI1100WD
         until the end of the year to celebrate the  1100th  anniversary  of
         the City of Waterford. It was founded by  the  Vikings  in  in  the
         year 914, and it is the oldest city in  Ireland.  QSL  via  EI2HZB,
         direct or bureau.
F      - Geoffrey, F4FVI will be active as TM3NOI  from  Noirmoutier  Island
         (EU-064) on 16-17 August. Look  for  activity  around  3755,  7055,
         14260, 18128, 21260, 24950  and  28460  kHz.  QSL  via  home  call,
         direct or bureau, LoTW and eQSL.
JA     - Kenji,  JA4GXS  will  be  active  as  JA4GXS/5  from  Shodo  Island
         (AS-200) on 13-15 September. Hw will operate CW and SSB on 40,  30,
         20, 17 and 15 metres. QSL via home call,  direct  or  bureau.  [TNX]
KP4   -  The   Borinquen  Radio  Club   (KP3ER)  will  participate   in  the
         International  Lighthouse/Lightship  Weekend  as  K4A   from    the
         lighthouse at Punta Higuero, Puerto Rico (NA-099).  QSL  via  NP4RA
         (direct) and eQSL.
OH     - OH1MN and  OH1SDR  will  be  active  as  OH10TA  from  Lovo  Island
         (EU-096, WWL KO19fx) on 16-17 August. They will  concentrate  on  6
         and 2 metres CW and SSB. If conditions are poor, they  may  be  QRV
         on  80-10  metres.  QSL  via  OH1MN,  direct  or    bureau.    [TNX]
SM     - Kjell, SM4DDS will be active as 7S5A  from  Stora  Alo/Boko  Island
         (EU-177) on 10-15 August. He will  operate  CW  and  SSB  on  80-10
         metres. He also plan to be QRV as 7S5A/p from  the  Nature  Reserve
         (SMFF-0316) on the island. QSL via home  call,  direct  or  bureau,

SV5    - SV5AZP, SV5DDT, SV5DKL and SV5KKA will be active as  SZ5RDS/p  from
         the lighthouse on the islet of Strongyli  on  16-17  August  during
         the International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend. They  will  operate
         CW, SSB and RTTY on 80-2 metres with two stations. QSL via  SV5AZP.
         Strongyli (Stroggili) lies some 4 km south-east of  the  island  of
         Kastellorizo (EU-001), and  is  the  easternmost  Greek  territory.

UA     - RI0X  is  the  new  callsign  issued  to  the  21-27  August   IOTA
         expedition to Karaginsky Island (AS-064) [425DXN  1211].  The  team
         now includes seven operators (namely  R9XC,  RA1ZZ,  RA3AV,  UA0ZC,
         UA1ZZ and UA3AKO), who will be QRV 80-10 metres CW, SSB  and  maybe
         digital modes with two stations. The new QSL route is  via  UA3AKO,

VE     - Mike, VY0BRR  (  will  be  active  from  Coats
         Island (NA-007) on 8-10 August. QSL via VE2XB.
VK9L   - Nobuaki, JA0JHQ will be active holiday  style  as  JA0JHQ/VK9  from
         Lord Howe Island (OC-004) on 10-12  August.  He  will  operate  SSB
         mainly on 17 and 15 metres. QSL via home call,  direct  or  bureau.

XE     - The  Radio  Aficionados  Regiomontanos  ARC  (XE2SO)  will  operate
         special station 4A2MAX from St. Maximilian Maria  Kolbe  Temple  in
         Monterrey on 13-16 August. Look for activity on 40, 20, 17, 15,  10
         and 6 metres SSB, CW and RTTY. Born in 1894, Father  Kolbe  (SP3RN)
         died on 14 August 1941 at Auschwitz.

ILLW  --->  The  17th  annual  International  Lighthouse/Lightship  Weekend,
conducted under the sponsorship of the Ayr Amateur Radio  Group,  will  take
place from 00.01 UTC on 16 August until 23.59  UTC  on  the  17th.  Complete
information on  this  popular  event,  including  a  list  of  participating
stations, can be found at

NC1L ---> ARRL DXCC and Awards  Manager  Bill  Moore,  NC1L,  was  seriously
injured in a single-car accident on 3 July [425DXN 1212].  Bill  suffered  a
broken neck and other injuries and is paralyzed from the chest down.  He  is
stable and recuperating in a Newington rehabilitation facility. There is  no
timetable for his return to work  at  ARRL  Headquarters.  DXCC  and  awards
questions that would normally be handled by Bill should be sent  to  one  of

W1AW WAS ---> Look for ARRL Centennial station W1AW/5 from  Oklahoma  to  be
on the air starting at 00.00 UTC on 13 August until 23.59 UTC on  the  19th.
Only one state will be active during that week. Complete information on  the

YB4IR/5 ---> Imam on OC-122 had to QRT around  20  UTC  on  5  August,  much
earlier than  planned,  "due  to  a  change  in  the  ferry  schedule"  (and
understandbly he did not want "to be stranded on the island for  another  10
days"). During the final couple of days he had to rely on his  vertical,  as
"a very strong wind damaged his Yagi antenna and  one  of  the  tubings  was
