and 28th of May as 5B4ALB. QRV on all HF bands and modes including

Jan, PA4JJ, will operate from Porec while on holiday between the
20th of May and 6th of June as 9A/PA4JJ. QRV mainly in digital

Members of the Dutch Society of Radio Amateurs will be on the air
from Malta for the 25th time from the 18th of May till 5th of June.

CT, Portugal:
CR5AT is a special call of the Clube Radioamadores do Entrocamento
for an activity from the castle Amieira do Tejo (WCA CT-00086, DCFP
C-086, DMHP PG-010, DMP 1212) taking place on the 18th. QSL via
CS5CRE, direct only, eQSL.

The "Associacao de Radioamadores da Vila de Moscavide - Radioamadores
do Concelho de Loures" (ARVM) celebrates its 25th anniversary with
the special event call CS25ARVM for one week, starting May 20.

E7, Bosnia and Herzegovina:
E720SRRS celebrates 20 years of the "Savez radio-amatera Republike
Srpske" (SRRS), the national radio club in the Serbian political
entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. All in all there are three
national radio clubs in E7: ARABH, SRRS, and ZRHB. QRV till the end

EW, Belarus:
EV196VTAP is the special call sign for the 70th anniversary of a

The scary prospect of a Napoleonic invasion prompted
Britain to install a shutter-telegraph line from London to Plymouth
in the early 19th century. GB5PT commemorates this by operating
from Pistle Down, nr. Alderholt in Dorset (WAB SU11, WW Loc.

GB4DNA honours the achievement of Sir Francis Crick and Maurice
Watson, who, 60 years ago, discovered the DNA structure.

I, Italy:
II9SUB operates between the 20th and 26th of May in the context of
the 50th International Submariner Association Congress. QSL via

LZ, Bulgaria:
LZ125VZ commemorates the 125th birthday of Vladimir Zaimov, a
Bulgarian WWII general. QRV till the year's end, QSL via LZ1KLR,

ON, Belgium:
OT7G/p is an activation of the palace De Ghellinck in Elsegem for
the Belgium Castle Award. QRV 18th till 20th, on all HF bands in
SSB and CW, also on 2m in FM. QSL via ON5MA.

S5, Slovenia:
The radio club of Mozirje was founded 45 years ago. Members are
celebrating on the air as S545DSW, mainly in SSB and digital modes.

SM, Sweden:
The radio club of Farsta commemorates the founding of the
ITU in 1865 with the call 8S0ITU. QRV on the 17th of May, QSL via
SK0CC.

Ove, SM0PSO, shares his joy over his successful heart
transplantation on the 30th of May 2009 with the amateur radio
community operating SF0530COH for 2 weeks before and after the 30th.

SP, Poland:
The PZK section in Ostroleka (SP5KVW) celebrates 35 years of its

SN100PSP honours the 100th anniversary of the fire brigade in Otwock.

SU, Egypt:
SU8N was back on the air on the 9th from Nelson Island, but had to
go QRT again on the 10th due to bad weather. QSL via SM5AQD, direct

TA, Turkey:
In 1919 Mustafa Kemal Ataturk declared the 19th of May a national
day of youth and sports. TC19MYS and TC19MAY will operate in this
context.

UA, Russia:
R50DXC celebrates the golden jubilee of the radio club "Dubna" till
the 26th of June. No QSL information known.

Tomsk State University opened its doors to students in 1888 (after
an initial founding in 1878), making it the oldest university in
Siberia. Today its student body numbers about 23000. The jubilee
will be celebrated on the air with the call R135TU between the 15th
and 31st of May. QSL via RW9HYY.

Russian members of the The European Phase Shift Keying Club will
operate R55EPC and R73EPC till the 30th of June. QSL for R55EPC via
R9CBA, for R73EPC via RK3DSW.

The Border Guard Service of Russia was founded 95 years ago. R95PW
and numerous other special event calls will be QRV because of that
until the 31st of July.

VK, Australia:
Australian amateurs once more will use the AX prefix for the World
Telecommunication Day (1th of May).

VP5, Caicos Is.: Dave, W5CW, is due to appear on the bands once more as
VP5/W5CW between the 16th of May and 11th of June. QRV on 160-6m in
CW and SSB. QSL via h/c.

VP8, Falkland Islands:
Andy, M0HLT, has a work engagement for the coming two years on the
Falklands. He hopes for lots of QRV time as VP8DOH in SSB on the
higher bands. Logs will be uploaded to LotW and eQSL.

W, USA:
W9IMS will bring the Indianapolis 500 race to everyone's attention
from the 21st to the 27th of May. QSL via bureau.

Felix, DL6JF, plans a 5000 mile road-trip through several US states
between the 16th of May and 2nd of June. The route takes him from
California to Texas, via Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado,
Kansas, and Oklahoma.
Felix will operate a mobile setup. Skeds are welcome via

YA, Afghanistan:
Jesse, KB2OBQ, returns to Panjwaiin (Kandahar Province) for a new
assignment until August 2014. He will reactivate is old call T6JP
on all bands 160-10m in SSB and CW, operating a 100W rig. QSL via
h/c, LotW, eQSL.

YB, Indonesia:
Members of the national Indonesian radio club ORARI bring YE30P on
the air celebrating 30 years of ORARI's Daerah Papua division from
the country's eastern-most city Merauke. QRV 15th to 17th with 2
stations in CW, SSB, and RTTY. QSL via YB9WR, direct only.

John, YB5NOF, Anton, YB5QZ, and other OPs are announcing the

Reports about Arctic / Antarctic amateur radio activity.
John, KL7JR, continues to seek reports and QSLs concerning QSOs
with stations north of the polar circle or from the Antarctic for
his monthly column "Arctic and Antarctic DX" of the "Canadian

CASHOTA-Weekend:
The weekends 18th/19th and 25th/26th of May will see this year's
activity for the Castles and Stately Homes on the Air operations.

DARC-DX-University:
DARC chose the topic "Adventurous Amateur Radio - Dxpedition" for
this year's Ham-Radio fair. Part of that will be a DX-University on
friday, the 28th of June, set up with support from DX-University
(http://www.dxuniversity.com). All amateurs interested in DX, the
seasoned DXer, the DXpeditioner, newcomers etc. are welcome as
participants. Most of the day's lectures will be in German though.

CQWW DX SSB in Grenada. Interested Ops, willing to bring their own

FT5ZM - Call for Donations:
For the expedition to Amsterdam, scheduled in January 2014, the
team is still looking for donations to cover the cost of their ship
passage. So far 53% of the total amount are covered, with the

Silent Key:
Maurizio, I1YUM, was one of the casualties in a tragic accident in
the port of Genua on the 7th of May, which in total claimed seven
lifes, and injuring numerous other persons.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We are sorry for
their loss.

EU-172; OZ; Jylland East and Fyn group: Ric/DL2VFR, activates Samso
Island (DIA JY-008, WLOTA 0726) as OU1RAEM between the 18th and
24th of May. He also plans to put OZFF-073 ("Stavnfjord") on the

NA-106; KP2; Virgin Islands: Fred/K9VV (NP2X) and Bob/WP2XX will be
visiting the Radio Reef DXers Super-Station on St. Croix Island
(USi VI002S, WLOTA 2477) from the 21st till the 28th of May. They
are QRV with their own calls and as KP2M for the WPX CW contest.

SA-004; HC8; Galapagos Island: Alex/HD2A and Alberto/HC2AQ are
going to the Isla de Santa Cruz (WLOTA 1667, WWFF HCFF-004) as HD8A
from the 15th till the 20th of May. QRV on HF with a TS590,

Lighthouse activities / ILLW
==========================
The weekend 17th/18th of August will see the annual "International
Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend" (ILLW). Up to now 220 stations
have indicated their participation, check www.illw.net for a list.


WWFF activity / RFF
===================
Vlado/UA0LCZ will spend time on the Camchatka peninsula between the
15th and 21st of May. His itinerary as UA0LCZ/0 includes the
following WWFF areas: Bystrinskiy Nature Park (RFF-185), Kronotsky
Zapovednik Nature Reserve (RFF-052), Nalychevo Nature Park
(RFF-187), Southern Kamchatka Nature Park (RFF-186), Southern
Kamchatka State Nature Reserve (RFF-269), and Kluchevskoy Nature
Park (RFF-188). This is a CW only operation on 80-10m. QSL via
