24/05/2013: Using a special event callsign, 9A1GEO, members of Radio
Club
"Croatian Flora Fauna" will be active during the event named Geoparks
Communication Weekend (24-26 May 2013) in order to bring awareness
and
importance of Croatia's first proclaimed beautiful Geopark "Papuk", (inside
of
Nature park Papuk, WWFF 9AFF-014). The main goal will be to establish
contacts
with other radio stations around Europe and the world from bases set up in
or
around Geoparks. The main transmitting freq's to be used are 7.144, 14.144
and
21.144 MHz. Look for 9A1GEO on the main freq's but also on other bands on
SSB,

from 10m to 160m, SSB and CW, PSK with an emphasis on the higher
bands,

24/05/2013: Bob, K4UEE, reports: "After the successful DXpedition of
October
2010 (10-10-10), and a third place finish in the 2011 ARRL CW DX contest in
M/S,
it is time for a return to Saba. Bob K4UEE, Steve VE7CT, Gregg W6IZT and
Roger
G3SXW will enter the CQWW WPX CW Contest, multi-operator from Saba
(NA-145,
WLOTA 2043, WWFF PAFF-027) using the callsign PJ6A. Logs will be uploaded
to
LoTW quickly after our return with paper QSLs going via N4NX. Activity
is

all bands, mostly on the WARC bands, plus they will also be QRV on 2m
(for

26/05/2013: VUCC grid hunters who need Canadian grid EO40 may want to
listen
for Mike WB8BZK/VE3 who will activate EO40ud for six days from Seseganaga
Lake,
Thunder Bay District, in Ontario, from 26-31 May 2013. Band: 50 MHz SSB and
CW.
Frequencies: 50.135 MHz (starting on the calling freq, 50.125 MHz and
moving up
to 50.135 during an opening). Equipment: Icom 706 with 100W into a
3-element
beam up 30 feet, battery powered. Activity times: Mike will check for
activity
each morning at 1230Z and then again between 2230Z and 2300 each evening.

27/05/2013: Andy, G7SQW, plans to be active as EJ/G7SQW from the island
of
Arranmore [aka Aran] (EU-121, WLOTA 1189), Co. Donegal, Ireland, from 27-29
May
2013. QRV on 40m-6m from Grids IO54 and IO55 with a 2nd radio dedicated to
6m,
hopefully with a yagi. This will be Andy's first IOTA activation. QSL via

27/05/2013: An IOTA expedition by Dan HM2DMR, Johnny HQ2JCM and HQ2DOM to
some
Honduran islands is being planned for a period between late May to July
(dates
depending on Navy permission): Santanilla [aka Swan] Island (NA-035, WLOTA
0061)
using the callsign HQ8S. Cochinos Cays [Cochino Grande] (NA-160, WLOTA
2076)
using the callsign HQ3W. The island is a Marine Protected Area and are
managed
by the Honduran Coral Reef Foundation. Vivorillo Cays (NA-223) using
the
callsign HQ8D. The Vivorillos Bank is a bird sanctuary, it is protected
by
Honduran Wildlife, Navy and Army. Special permission is needed to visit
and
stay. Note that the callsigns have been requested and currently
tentative.
Cochinos Cays (NA-160) will be activated first, around the period 25-31
May
2013. Swan Islands (NA-035) HQ8S tentative dates 16-20 June. Vivorillos
Bank

Club
will be active as KL7NWR from Attu Island (NA-064, USi AK009S), 3rd

Central county, Alaska, from 2-5 June 2013. Actual days operating depend on
boat
transportation. This is a Special Event Station commemorating the
70th
anniversary of the end of the Battle of Attu in 1943. In 2013, Attu Island
and
other Aleutian Islands, also celebrate being part of the Alaska
Maritime
National Wildlife Refuge (WWFF KFF-143) for 100 years. Attu is the
westermost
point of North America and the end of the Aleutian Islands (IOTA NA-064,

Norwegian Svalbard archipelago, starting from approx 16 June lasting though

approx 15 December 2013. Similar to his Jan Mayen activities, it will be
a

SPECIAL EVENTS -
24/05/2013: The Belarus special event station EV196VTAP will operate
airborne
on board of a IL-76 MD on the 24th and 25th of May 2013. QSL via EW8LL.

25/05/2013: Visegrad ARHAB Days: Two educational workshops connected
with
launches of stratospheric missions. In the period between these two
events,
activities of special event amateur radio stations in all countries of
the
Visegrad Group. Communications by the amateur radio operators will be
rewarded
with special cards and diplomas, following fulfilment of all criteria
specified
in the regulations. During stratospheric missions, we will do some research
on
the properties of distribution of radio waves in the stratosphere. From the
25th
of May till the 30th of June 2013 look for the following stations to be

become the European Capital of Culture in 2016. Local amateurs are

31/05/2013: The Grey Point Fort (CASHOTA GI-060, WAB J47, WW Loc.

will be a 48hrs event starting at 1700hrs 31st May 2013 to 1700hrs 2nd
June
2013. The event is not a contest; It is an opportunity for all radio
amateurs to
make point to point contact on 80-10m SSB and PSK with the three special

callsigns to commemorate GB0GPF / GN0URN / MN0GPF. A certificate will be
awarded
to all stations that make contact with all three special event station
callsigns
on any qualifying bands or modes of operation. If a station is unable to
